Here is two shots of the same mule. haha
Two different times of year and two different guys, guess the mule is the one doing all the work.

CnC welcome. Thanks for looking!

Both are nice images capturing a moment seen by very few
I'm sure these two riders would attest to the comfortable ride a good mule provides
my favorite of the set is #2
Thanks for posting these

I like the tonal range and the crispness of #2 a little more than #1. Maybe the background is a tad bright in 1 or it could be cropped a little more. Both good captures of what has become a virtually extinct animal in South Africa. Also interesting is the fact that the one Hereford (?) has horns - here they are almost all polled.

Thanks for sharing.

Yes, I definetly like how crisp #2 came out and the backlighting of #1 was not probably as beneficial to the shot as it can be sometimes.
A good mule is better then a bad horse any day of the week! haha
Since that shot was from September when we did vaccination, I'm not sure if thats the bull or not (his bull has horns), so I'm not sure if they are part polled or not. Its a buddies ranch. It seems like occasionally we have to cut horns off, but not always.-Good observation-I would guess they are a mix of hereford.

Really like the second one.
First one I wish he was riding into the frame versus out of frame.

I like both captures- they have a sense of reality to them. Not all cowboys are slender and handsome enough to be models, although these two gentlemen probably don't spend all their days "out on the range."
I do wish the pics weren't so tightly framed, though.

Well done on both. With a preference though for the first, I like the framing, lens aperture used and atypical elements (the mule and the cowboy's clothing).

#2 for me too. It really looks like my neighbor.

Thanks for the comments. I will say that these two are both full-time cowboys and pretty typical for the two major types in Montana. The tight cropping is a result of eliminating unwanted elements, in the first it was trying to get several cows in the fram with him too. The first shot was at 300 or 400mm and the second around 30mm.

All good comments and things I will keep in mind next time.
Thanks for looking!
