I'm heading to the US Virgin Islands national park in mid February. I am having trouble finding photography tips/ locations on the forums and on the web in general. Please let me know if you can recommend any locations or ideas for shots. High on my list is to get shots of the milky way since I'm anticipating much less light pollution than in NJ.
A tip.. when I'm heading off to somewhere new I search the Smugmg photo galleries for that location. Usually it's pretty easy to find great shots with enough description to tell you where they were taken. Often you can find photographers who live and work in the area who you can contact for advice.
Made my first trip to the Washington Olympic Penninsula last June, and via Smugmug I found 3 good photographers who gave me invaluable tips and advice not found in any travel guide.
