p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · BG-E6 Grip for 5DmkII on Ebay -- Too Good to Be True?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Canon-BG-E6-Battery-Grip-Canon-EOS-5D-Camera-Mark-II-/150722383195?pt=Batteries_Chargers&hash=item2317c10d5b#ht_2516wt_1165

Is anyone familiar with this kind of ebay listing? It looks like a true, brand new Canon BG-E6 but it's a fifth of the cost from Amazon, Canon, etc.

Thanks.

Yea exactly, too good to be true. From Hong Kong too.

There is a thread of some other guy on POTN that ordered a similar one for a 7D and it was fake.

Save your money and time.

It doesn't say GENUINE anywhere on the listing.

almost 100% sure it is a knock-off (the Chinese don't care one bit about copyrights)

buy at your own risk.

I would by a third party grip made for the camera rather than one pretending to be OEM

YMMV

That's what I figured -- but they can basically deceive consumers as long as the magic word "genuine" isn't in the listing? Too bad that it's 'ok' to do that. Thanks for the weigh-in -- I'll do it right the first time and get it from B&H, most likely.

Is it magnesium? It will make your camera feel like a toy if it's plastic.

Here is how to tell a fake BG-E6:

I've no problems with these as long as they are advertised as FAKE BG-E6. I've seen people sell these (yes even on the B&S forum here) from time to time and not being truthful and asking the same price as the real ones.

100% fake I ordered one of these a few months ago before I was aware of all the fakes. I tried twice to get one from ebay. Both fake both returned.
