p.1 #1 · Sigma 120-400mm f/4.5-5.6 APO DG OS HSM - ???
If you have experience with this lens, I'd like to know what you think of it. I'll be using it on a 1DII and 7D. It is capable of working with Canon TC's? How is the AF speed and accuracy? OS mechanism sound and effectiveness...
Thanks...I'd love to be able to pick up the Canon 100-400L, but right now it's not an option financially, nor is the 400 f/5.6L. I'm mainly interested in opinions of the "titled" lens only...

Does not work with Canon TC's due to the protruding element. Works OK with a Tamron.
The glass is very good and the OS is good. I liked the lens on anything still and not much when moving. AF speed was not great on both my copies. Mine had bad lens creep after a month or two.

I don't know why you would spend $1,000 on a new Sigma, when you can pick up a like-new, used 100-400 on the B&S Forum for about the same price.
I agree. I was able to get a used copy for $1060 shipped and including PayPal costs. If you keep your eyes open you can find a good deal. Mine had some scratches on the hood and tripod ring and was an older model, but glass was brand new.
