Hi:

I have a Canon 7D + 580EXII flash unit. Here are my questions.

1. Does the high speed synch only work on the hot-shoe, ie not wireless?

2. Is there a way to have the flash fire in the second curtain wirelessly?

Thank you in advance.

John

Not using the on camera flash as a commander. You can do it using a 550ex, 580ex, or 580sx II as a master or with the ST-E2. There are also third party solutions, Pocket Wizard and Phottix Odin for example..

Only third party options for this.

You can of course use a wired remote connection.

Looks like I still need to carry my Flash Zebra long ETTL cord. Drat!

I'm glad, though, that the menu system on the 7D grays out non-available functions; it's making the learning curve much easier for me.

The cord will still only allow one flash though, with some Kings, Odins or PW's etc you can have as many as you like and wireless :-)
