Depends are what you're really asking here. Your question is somewhat vague.
To control a quantum q-flash in what quantum calls "QTTL", you need a QTTL module mounted in your hotshoe. Nikon = D22w-R Canon= D23w-R These modules plug into the q flash and give "ETTL" performance. If you want the flash farther from the camera than a bracket allows, you will need an extension cable or one of their wireless systems.
The FreeXwire system (wireless) works fine and will do almost everything Canon or Nikon will except high speed sync.
