Does anyone know if the full-time manual override on lenses will also work while shooting video? More specifically, I know you CAN turn the focus ring during video while it is set to AF, but is it "bad" for the lens/focus system?
If your lens has Ring USM that allows for Full Time Manual override while the lens is set in AF, then you will not need to take it out of AF (via the switch) to focus during video. Full time means full time. It will function as if it was in MF unless you trigger AF during shooting.
We never take our lenses out of AF during video and DO manually focus for video much of the time.
The AF will only kick in if you press and hold the AF button on the camera and the rest of the time the AF is disengaged (on full time MF lenses such as the 24L, 24-70L etc).
