Back from an Indian Wildlife safari. Light was rather poor and weather was very chilly in early morning and dusk. All shots were handheld and I used Canon equipment. Take a look at my second post for more Indian wildlife.
Pity you didn't get better light Michael, but you got some very nice pics.
Great look from the tiger in the first one.
My favorite here is the deer looking back through the grass and with the bird on its back.
Martin
Wow Michael, that must have been a real adventure Big congrats on the Tiger, after talking with Eric I now realize how hard they are to find. Great job on these guys. I really like the Deer shot, the bird on the butt makes the shot

Thanks Martin. I was very disappointed by the poor light and the heavy jungle brush. The wildlife was far away as well so I used the 7D more than the 1D. Not very happy with the noise level of the 7D with high ISO settings.
I feel your pain! Knowing what the light is like in the tiger reserves I think you just have to be incredibly lucky or have an unlimited amount of time to capture those crisp, close, low ISO shots that we dream about. Saying that, I think you did a fine job and when you realize the vast majority of people never even see a tiger on their safari, consider yourself one of the lucky ones. The kingfisher and owl shots are very nice as is the running boar image.
Eric
Love the spotted owlet. The tiger stripes in #2 are very unique! If you get a chance, return in May. It's very, very hot but I think it is much better for the tigers. Don

Thanks Don for the advice. I am planning to go for a longer trip next time and catch the Asiatic Lions as well. Have not nailed down the month yet but probably April. Can't stand too much heat.
