The 25/2.8 works pretty well for landscapes, it does have some field curvature at close focusing distances wide open but from f5.6 to f8 its sharp corner to corner when focused to infinity.

Actually, my bad as those threads are more about the 25 2 though the 25 2.8 is mentioned as likely better for landscape use.

A very good lens (on FF and crop).Best around infinity and for close ups.Decent at mid range distances - at least f 5.6 is recommended then to get nice, sharp and crisp results.

Here are some examples with Sony NEX to give you a flavour of what this lens is capable of in different scenes:

I've been using a zf version on a Rayqual adapter and I've been very impressed with it's performanance.

I've found best sharpness corner to corner for landscape type shots is when I've focussed right up to the infinity stop, maybe that's just a thing to look for when using adapters with wide lenses, but I'd expect similar results with a Rayqual m42-eos adapter similar to the one included in the ffordes lens.

ZS lenses should work fine on any Canon body (with an M42 adapter), as far as I know.

I've tried the ZF25/2.8 myself and although it's a very good lens, I liked the slightly less wide angle of my Contax 28/2.8 better, so I sold the 25. Landscape is perhaps the main strength of the 25/2.8, although many people like to use it for close-ups too.

Thank you.ZS 25/2.8 is the most universal mount of all (this is old good M42 screw mount in fact).Through readily available, cheap adapters (ebay) you can mount such lens on Canon/Nikon/Sony ect.Optically it's identical with other 25/2.8 Z series lenses.Canon 1Ds series cameras are usually free from mirror hanging/other adapter related issues,so I would't expect any problem.

That's a very good price from a recognised outlet, one I can recommend from personal experience. At less than half the expected street price of the superseding 25/2 lens, such a versatile lens in E++ is in the frame. ZS is one reason why, Canon and Nikon users would prefer lenses with native mount.

6.7 inches at close focus, and wonderful at infinity too, typical Zeiss wide angle distortion (no bad thing IMO). I don't think you can go wrong, with a decent adapter.

Once in a while when I donīt feel for carrying my 21ZE around, I take the 25/2.8. It has never let me down. In fact, and despite the rather good close up ability of the 21, Iīve found myself wanting the 25 for itīs close up when I had the 21. The 25/2.8 is much better than itīs reputation.
