Cool. Interesting idea, although you still are left with a large camera body. I'm sure CornerFix is going to need to be heavily used. If the new Sony SLT 135 camera comes, as expected, it would be a great candidate for this kind of thing, since it will have an EVF.
Still cheaper than a 1Ds or D3. The M9 has outsold all expectations with the pricing unchanged since launch 2+ years ago..
What you meant to write is it is far too expensive for you.

It's far too expensive for what it is. I have, for now, decided not to buy one. Instead I sunk m9 money into dslr gear, which gives me far more options for what I want and need to shoot.
The m9 is great, and for some I guess the dslr is the second camera. But at the end of the day, it has a pittance of technology cost to produce and even at launch used old parts, the Leica tax is very very high on this camera.
Iirc it's more expensive here than a d3 and the same price as the 1ds, also, they can do anything the m9 can do, but not vice versa (ok, they can't be stuffed in a jacket pocket)
I get economics
I can afford a m9 if I want one
It's a very limited and specific camera that is not used in most professional settings for a multitude of reasons.
You clearly don't get value, flexibility, differing needs., or manners today.

Unless Chinese or Korean release their FF cameras, the $7000 price range for the flagship model will never change.
That is the Japanese pricing strategy. If I were the CEO, I would not cut down the price, since many people willing to pay for it.
I tried the M9 a few weeks ago. It's a great experience and would fit my style, but I just can't put down the money for it. Not because I don't have it, but because I also get the feeling it's overpriced for what it really is. You also hear a lot of stories of M9 owners that need to send in their camera with the lenses multiple times just to get the focusing right.
Not for me.
Leica needs some competition Now they can ask what they want for that camera, because it's unique.
