Thanks to all for the comments and suggestions on my recent Hummingbird post.
I have taken another previous shot (I was having trouble getting what I wanted) and made some adjustments.
I am a lot happier with it, again I have much to learn, esp. on editing.
Looking for your thoughts and or suggestions..

For anyone wanting to improve their bird photography techniques, including post-processing, you can't do better than joining and browsing Birdphotographers.net - you might even dare to post there too! I know what would be said about these pictures - the bird is sharp but the background has too much digital noise, there are too many distracting elements e.g. the out of focus branch on the right, that could be cloned out, the eye should have a catchlight to make it look more alive, the head angle should be more towards the photographer, etc. etc. Some of the pictures posted there look fantastic to my eye, but people still find ways they could be improved. One of the things I like about FM is that the C&C is far more gentle but on the other hand I don't think it's as good a learning tool. But we all like to be praised for our good effort s at times! And I agree with Tim - the second one is coming on nicely.
Mark,can you post the uncropped image,I ask because a crop obviously amplifies noise visibility in the image, also was the image under exposed and brought up in PP.Alternatively if you know what the % crop was no need to post the original

looks like 25% and I did bring up the exposure a little.

I am just beginning to get familiar with some more involved PP.
The original was edited with Elements, I have since upgraded to CS5 and have been slowly learning all it has to offer.
I did the rework with this.
