Hello everyone!

I was wondering if I could get some comments or suggestions on my camera gear. I currently own:
- Canon T2i
Set#1
- Canon 10-22mm
- Tamron 28-75mm
- Canon 70-200L f4
Set#2 (when I don't feel like carrying too much)
- Canon 18-55mm IS
- Canon 55-250 IS

I recently started to look at the Tamron 17-50 VC. Would anyone feel it would be beneficial for me to get this? I do know that it is slightly sharper than the Tamron 28-75, but I don't know if its worth getting it seeing how I have the Canon 10-22 to cover my wider end.

Also, does anyone have suggestions as to when I should use the Canon 55-250mm as opposed to the Canon 70-200L? I'm really considering just selling this.

Well, you could always sell the 28-75, 18-55 and 55-250 and get the 17-50 -- which would be your main lens. I don't see a problem having the 10-22 for wide angle with the 17-50 at all. The only reason to use the 55-250 over the 70-200 would be from 201 to 250mm -- I would dump it and pick up a 1.4x TC to use on the 70-200 if you need a longer FL. Right now you have too much overlap, but 10-22, 17-50, 70-200 would be just about right.

You shouldn't have lenses just because they 'cover' all the possible focal lengths...you should have lenses that compliment your shooting style and needs. As for the 55-250...that is actually a surprisingly good lens (value) and although the 70-200 is superior optically and quite small/light, the 55-250 is even smaller and lighter and has the added benefit of IS. Hence it 'might' be a good compact choice for a 'vacation' lens (for example). Only you'll know whether or not those differences are important/beneficial to you.

I primarily use the 10-22, 28-75, and 70-200L, but occasionally I bring just the 18-55 and 55-250 when I do not feel like carrying a heavy load. I usually them as two separate sets.

From reading reviews of Tamron 17-50 vs 28-75, the slightly greater sharpness of the 17-50 is very attractive to me but I feel I would not be able to capture the nice portrait shots at 75mm in dim areas such at dinners which the f4 of the 70-200L wouldn't cover; I think this goes back to what Omar means by shooting style. Should I really get the 17-50 over the 28-75?

I have a 70-200 f/4 as well on my 7D. Here is my recommendation, you have a lot of redundancy in your lineup, and could benefit from some simplification.

The 18-55 & 55-250 are not bad lenses, but they are not as good as the 70-200 you have, nor the 10-22. I would sell the 18-55 & 55-250 as well as the 28-75 and purchase a 17-55 f/2.8 IS. This lens is amazing and arguably the best on crop sensors. This wi ll give you a GREAT replacement to the 18-55 as well as a great walk around/travel lens.

I bought the 17-55 and70-200 f/4 together as I thought I would need the 70-200 right away, but I do not use it as much as I thought, and I can often get away with just taking the 17-55 when I don't want to take my camera bag.

That is my recommendation, don't know if it helps or not.

If I didn't shoot MMA or group shots, I could shoot with 70-200 and 135 and that's it.

just because you've got the mm coverage, doesn't mean you've got to use it. What I'm asying is, if you find yourself needing wide, or needing telephoto, then upgrade what you need to. Doin't worry about covering something if you don't need it.

I would reconsider that 17-50VC. My research (and everything else I have read) shows that it IS NOT sharper than the 28-75 2.8 nor is it sharper than the 17-50 non-VC.
