I am posting this question for a friend that is interested in selling his Pristine Eos 1D MarkII (Non N) by pristine I mean not a mark on the body of any kind. The same condition as if you had unwraped it brand new from B&H. Very low usage, only 8000 actuations on the original shutter.Includes All the original accessories that came with the camera when new, original box, manual, Charger, Battery, and so fourth. My friend is the original owner of the camera, and would like some opinions as to what you all would think it would be worth on the used camera market these days.
The 1DII is a great camera though now getting dated. I'm shooting the 1DIIn and while I love it, the ISO limitations are becoming an issue. In all truth, a 1DII is in the $600-$700 range. The fact that it is excellent condition (if this can be verified) might add another $100 or so. I really can't see it getting close to a grand though who know?. As someone said, if you live in a big enough city put on Craigslist for something outrageous and it might get bought.
Thanks everyone for your replies. My friend Rick is going to list it on Craigs list at $1000 OBO As TrojanHorse has said, Rick can always lower the price. I will also show Rick that Amazon.com link.
I bought a second 1D2 a few weeks ago in condition as you describe -- just over 7,000 clicks and practically pristine, with extra battery and accessories. I paid the Buy It Now price on ebay of $640 with free shipping (plus CA tax). It then needed a little work at Canon, so my total came to about $800 for a top condition like-new functioning and appearance. I would expect to get about $600 for a normal 1D2. My earlier one with over 100,000 clicks (but brand new shutter and servicing) was under $600.
$1000 is just wasting time -- have him at least go down to $700 to start out.
