Hello All
I'm trying to decide which of these two tripod I will buy.
Unfortunately I cannot handle them to make a better idea.
Reading a lot of articles I can summary in these way:

The most big setup for me would be 5Dmark2 with canon 70-200 f2.8

GT1542T
PRO
- Dimension and lightness
CONTRO
- Stability with lens between 200 and 300mm (also maybe with wind, or not perfect condition)

GT2541
PRO
- Better Stability
CONTRO
- Dimension 55.5cm folded without head (Problem on carrying into the airport....)

So I would like to know your impression, asking these question:

1) The GT2541 can be reverse folded. Which is his lenght in these configuration?
2) Without the column, which will be his lenghts?

The 2 series is 5 inches longer and 0.8 lbs heavier. If you shoot telephoto often, I'd consider the 2 series for the extra stability.

If there is any wind at all, the 2 series will be better. By travel, can you transport it in the checked luggage or does it have to go in the aircraft's cabin?

As EB-1 says, your heavy kit stretches the series 1 even in the best of circumstances. Don't know about the new 6x legs, but Gitzo used to say that a 70-200/2.8 was the longest recommended lens on a 2-series, with 300/4 in a pinch. The 6x feel notably more stable so I would imagine that the 2-series would be fine with a 300/4.

You can probably wing it with a 1 series, but if it is the only tripod you plan on buying I would go with a 2 series. On the other hand, the 1 series is A LOT more compact for stuffing in a backpack or a carry-on.

Like many here, I have a 3-series for "around home base", and a 1-series for those times when I will need to lug things more than 3000 ft in the vertical direction.

I've made this comparison directly and I do a lot of backpacking on multi day hikes with camping gear camera gear and food. I really care about weight, but the 1 series just doesnt cut the mustard. For the additional 400g the 2541 feels like it gives almost double the stability.
No contest....

If airports are a serious consideration you can always put the tripod into your suitcase surely?

Thanks for the info. I think that to ship in the checked luggage at least I must remove the head. Would be better if I can carry inside the cabin as carry-on luggage

Thanks you are first making me a direct comparison, I was guessing what you tell me. In any case what do you mean with suitcase? Checked baggage or as hand baggage. With the head mounted probably the tripod will be 66cm tall. In any case I would prefer to carry with me as hand baggage. But I don't know if possible, probably yes I see almost everything carried as hand baggage.
