Thanks Kurt for the comments. AFAIK neither of the 2 species of bush crickets I get in the garden develop full wings.
[EDIT] Whoops- think you are right Kurt- apparently this species does develop full wings - getting a bit late in the season unless it can hibernate as a sub- adult.
Harold - that might explain it- the Southern OBC only has short wings ! - thanks
Phil - This echium is the very tall bi or triannual one - It just self seeds. I did lose my lower growing perennial echiums last winter though but luckily did find some seedlings of that too.
