Don't expect to find jumping spiders out in the garden in November especially a Heliophanus species which I only rarely see. Walking about on an old plastic bread rack trying to do it's best to avoid me. About 5mm body length
Aesthetically enjoyable and well-illuminated photos of this difficult dark subject.
Reminds me a bit of a small jumper that literally chased me and my macro rig over 50 feet as it walked on a handrail adjacent to a walkway. I baked away a few more feet each 15-30 seconds, pausing to attempt a new photo at each brief stop. I finally gave up when I ran out of walkway! I could never figure out if it was just curious,if it saw me and my camera as a threat, or what.
Anthony - judging from other photos of the same family, eg below, I think they are fairly hairless, but I'd guess this is a fairly old specimen judging from the faded colours.
