"About $35 in parts and $175 in labor to fix my EF 50mm f/1.4 when the AF/MF died. It tooks 3 months to fix because they had to wait forever for parts."
"my 50 1.4, replacement of dead AF costs $73 including general check up and recalibration (the recalibration itself really worth the price since my lenses came back very very sharp even at f/1.4)"
This type of problem is a crapshoot. I had a 50 1.4 that had a grinding issue with the manual focus ring--the AF worked just fine. I sold it cheap and the buyer had the repair done for $100 without discount. Had I done it with my CPS Gold, it would have been around $70? The issue with this unit seems to be a bit more serious, however.
