p.1 #1 · Epson V750 or Canon CanoScan 9000F for photos?

Hi, I wonder what scanner Epson V750 or Canon CanoScan 9000F is better for scanning old photos.

As I understand the CanoScan 9000F has FARE 3 that can use infrared light to remove dust and scratches from photos.

I can't find the information about EPSON V750 ?

I don't have any experience with either scanner. But for scanning prints either one should do. You can likely get away with something cheaper.

As for film scanning, I've owned a Canon Canoscan 9950f and and Epson V700. The Canon is no slouch. It did the job and did it well. But the Epson is noticeably better. The scans are sharper and more defined. I have a friend that owns a Nikon CoolScan 9000 ED and you can literally see the grains of silver. I think after that point, it's just not getting any better.

If you want a solid review of the Epson:

I have the Epson V700 and it is solid.

Thank you I'll go with the EPSON then, but first I must resolve this issue with dust under glass on new EPSON V750 scanners (6 total now have had dust).

The V700 has dust recognition software as well. The V750 is basically the same machine, but with better 3rd party scanning and calibration software and a facility for wet mounting negs.

I had the Canon 9000f. I can honestly say that I was very happy with it.
However... ( I bet you knew that was coming), I stumbled across a new Epson V750 just a couple days ago. As I write this, I'm awaiting delivery.

Here's a couple samples from the Canon 9000f. For about 175.00, it does a fantastic job.

I'll update the comparison in a couple days.
