p.1 #1 · Last Soccer game of Spring

Season ended today with a 9-1 record. The team really played wonderful all spring. There one loss could of easily gone the other way its amazing what a difference a goalie can make at this age. Sad to say this team will be splitting up this year after two stellar season. Half the girls will be staying down in the U* while the other half move up to the U10. My daughter in the first photo has elected to move up even though she will only be 7. She is quoted as saying she wants to play with the big girls. All shot with a 300f2.8 in very harsh sun.

Very nice shots Bruce. This is definitely the age where having fun is the key and I am glad to see you captured the youthful spirit in these girls. Very nice isolated action as well.

Fun right now is the key Bruce. If she is good, make sure the body mass difference is not too much going to compete at the U10 level. The on field intensity at U10 gets more intense and more personal. Having been there with our daughter, I stress the need to make sure she is able to fend for her self at two levels up.

Love the captures, good job.

Regards,
Matt

I appreciate the advise Matt. She is taller then most of the third graders at her school and she has been training with th U10 select team. We have talked about it with her and she really wants to play up. She realizes she won't be one of the biggest and fastest in the upper age group.

Nice shots. I would like to see a tighter crop on 4 and see what that looks like.

Playing up is tough. There is a big difference between the maturity of a 7-8 year old and 10 year old. And the physical differences as mentioned can be tough to deal with as well.

As long as she can handle it, I say go for it. It will only make her better and work that much hard to keep up.

At ages 7+ to about 9+ they are realizing they have an identity seperate from their parents and other siblings they lose theri inhibitions and it makes them a little nutty When my grand-daughter played at that level rather than call the girls by name I called "gooney # __" referring to their jersey number.

Moving to U13 GOLD they are much to sophisticated for nick-names -- now they get to tease me.

Enjoy the ride.

I have got to get me a long lense. Maybe a 200 with a 2x. My duaghter has decided to unretire and play soccer again. So need to shoot her games, now that she will be in big field. I really like your shots. thanks for posting

Some wonderfull images Bruce especially given the harsh conditions I'd crop #4 to exclude the 2 on the L IMHO. V Nice set. Kind regards Graham.

These girls in soccer are a trip. Mine started young, though my second earlier than my first. Now they are entering u16 and u13, and I gotta say, this is some pretty serious/good soccer. Talented kids who have no fear of going after it, and they are strong as s#$%.

Oh, and the shin pad odor. Unbelievable. I don't remember girls smelling like this when I was a kid. Gotta get some kitty litter.

Beware the shin pads left in the closed car in summer..... Lenses fog, breathing is difficult, paint peels, etc.

Enjoy the ride!

Bruce...nice series. When I first looked I thought that was a TV monitor in #1.....then I scrolled down. I like the team shot a lot. On #4 you might want to consider cropping out the girl on the right. Clean BG's too.

Bruce, I like all of them, the reason I started shooting sports was to see kids playing cause they love it, you captured that essence. if one of these was my daughter I would go on your site and buy one to hang in her room!
