Wayne S. and I went out on a mini photo walk around my neighborhood to try Wayne's C/Y 1.4/35, 2/35 ZF and my new 1.4/35 ZE. No brickwall shooting here, we both just tried to shoot identically composed scenes and see how these three 35mm's rendered. Wayne was also kind enough to let me try his Contax N 1.4/85 - a marvelous optic, and he also got some birding done

No PP on any of my images except for adjusting black levels, and/or contrast in a few cases. I sharpened these images for web size (1024 px long edge).

Ajay,
Color saturation and smooth bokeh look very nice with your new 35/1.4.

Ajay was kind enough to let me use his new 35/1.4.
Ajay took all his shots both at f1.4 and f2 so that we could compare to my C/Y 35/1.4 and my ZF 35/2.
The ZE 35/1.4 was not hard for me to focus and has a nice longer throw.
Colors are more saturated and it renders tougher high contrast edges like backlit tree branches very well.Size and weight wise, the lens was balanced on my 1ds3.
This lens is a smooth operator.

I will try to post my shots soon.

it say that in Italy will be released in mid-May, the wait is unnerving...i've or ... posted 1.4 more shots at different distances, you are great thanks

Here is one at the end with Contax N 85/1.4 wide open.
Its smooth bokeh blur reminds me of the new ZE 35/1.4.

yes, the shots I posted above are either my 35/1.4 at f1.4 or my ZF 35/2 at f2 except for the last shot which was from my Contax N 85.
We tried to do the same framing but it was not exact since we were shooting without a tripod.
One difference is I was shooting with my 1ds3 and Ajay was using his 5d2.

Yes, but I meant CY 35/1.4 vs ZE 35/1.4, not the ZE 35/2...

Thanks guys, but some remarks:

It would be nicer if all shots were processed the same way and were posted at the same size.
(This would maybe be easier if one of you edits all shots.)

Now it's a bit difficult to compare.

I think all the posts have some pretty comparable posts from those two. They are not the exact framing but still give some impressions.

Is it my imagination or do both the ze have noticeably better bokeh than the old c/y ?
