Please note I have revised this ad based on the good advice of another FM-er after finding a scuff on the bottom of the rear LCD after closer inspection - I apologize for any inconvenience and for the length of the text...
I have a fine, lightly used 40D. Bought as a refurb about 5 months ago, was in perfect shape (often these are salespersons' samples as I understand). It was purchased from another FM'er who changed his mind after purchasing late December 2008. I have used it probably a total of 6 times, with about 500 total exposures or less, mostly for interior macro and room shots - I recently added a 5D (refurb, also, as I have never had issue with any refrubs) and am going away from the 1.6X sensor.
After posting this originally, a potential buyer asked that I look at the camera closely. It does have a light scuff at the bottom edge of the main LCD panel, approximately 1/4-inch in size. It is only visible when you look at the camera at a sharp angle from below and with careful lighting angle. It is not visible at standard viewing angles, and I could not at all see any effect on image playback. I assume the scuff came from an interior zipper in a camera bag. Other than that I see no issues in terms of wear or operation. I have checked the sensor for dead/hot pixels and see no issue. I have checked focusing with Canon EF lenses (50 macro and 135 2.0 both at wide aperture) and believe it is spot on.
I have a Mack extended warranty that is registered (I believe it is 3 years), and I understand that it is transferable (I can check with Mack to confirm). I had to use a Mack warranty once before on a laptop computer, and was pleased with their service.
I can send photos if needed (I have not signed on for posting rights to this site based on little use of the buy/sell recently, and don't use a photo posting site at this point). Camera will come with all that came with it new, including one Canon battery. Refurbs come in a plain box from Canon.
I bought this at a good deal, and am willing to lose some money on it, and to sell for $629 shipped/insured + $18 paypal fee for a total cost of $647 via USPS priority mail with full insurance value. It is a fine camera for that money - it just sits in a Pelican case all the time now and should be enjoyed by someone. I am in the USVI part time but heading to Boston this week, and can ship from either as needed via USPS priority mail, insured.
I think this is a pretty sharp price on this given condition (essentially new condition except for the scuff), so please no offers at this point.
