I finally got out and did some well thought out drops, lots of pre planning ( i did this at school in the Holography room, which is bascailly a darkroom)
I was using a Canon 30D - 60mm Macro. used a buerette from the chemistry rooms and floraciene (sp?) for the color
used my keen sense of timing and a 580exII on camera @ about 1/32-1/64th power

These are cool. Let's see, the 580EX II at 1/32 power is about 1/1900s and at 1/64 it's 1/31000s - good example of using the flash duration to stop the action. I agree, the B&W almost looks 3D or CGI.
