Re: Thoughts on the Panasonic L10?

I posted the dpr results to the other FM post:
https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1942831/4#17054269

The results are similar to my experience on LX100 & LX100 II on quality control... Hopefully the lens is sealed better this time. After trying LX100/100 II, I ended up with Canon G1X III and was very happy with the wide open lens quality and sealing as a landscape camera... However the long side portraits is on the slow side, so I ended up with a used D-Lux 7 and now a used L10 from B&H... My other solution was having gm5+42.5mm tele but again too many pieces...

I shot extensively with m43 and the lens on this camera is not comparable to other m43 lenses maybe due more physics eg look at the side of Pana 12-35mm 2.8 or 1.7 zoom lenses and the new higher MP sensors exposes the old design eg you need to stopped the lens down and supposedly the lens curvature causes the wide open results per dpr... It is a lazy update from Panasonic side, eg not updating the aged lens design... Per dpr, it is the latest Fuji P&S craze that pushed the camera manufacturers to update quickly without spending too much on R&D, RX1R III/L10 and new RX10 update... Canon is supposed to bring a new P&S camera also as rumored for a while...

Again it is about compromises and uses. It is similar size to X100VI size. It gives wider and longer zoom that will never get the same sharpness of prime lenses or maybe even similar newer Canon V1 zoom, but it will extend your shooting possibilities esp on the tele side for family/low lght outings if you want sth better than your phone... For me animal eye & faster pdaf are a plus, but going from wide to tele has the same speed as before eg too slow to be a street camera if you change the zoom...

There are many reports of IQ issues with this camera/ It seems to be better with close shots but lacks detail on medium & far landscape pics. Very few, if any, actual users are posting images? Some of the images on DPR are dodgy & DPR requested another model in order to check IQ issues....
The L10 appears to be a well specied camera but it is used to take pictures!
