Also, not sure why they replaced the SS with a mode dial.
Yes, that's unfortunate about the dials. I own the LX100 II and the manual dials/controls make it such a unique camera. Also the exposure comp dial is also gone and replaced with a customizable dial.
I just took the LX100 II to Jersey and D.C., along with the ZS200 (https://www.openfilmmaker.com/the-travel-photography-setup-that-finally-ended-my-analysis-paralysis/). I am very impressed with this combo... And now tempted to get the L10. I also think it's annoying it's the same size as the Lymix S9 that includes superb IBIS, but L10 has none? Lol. They know if they included IBIS in the L10, it would reduce sales in their other cameras. I'd deduce they have a GX model in the works, likely this fall or later.
There are many reports of IQ issues with this camera/ It seems to be better with close shots but lacks detail on medium & far landscape pics. Very few, if any, actual users are posting images? Some of the images on DPR are dodgy & DPR requested another model in order to check IQ issues....
The L10 appears to be a well specied camera but it is used to take pictures!
The results are similar to my experience on LX100 & LX100 II on quality control... Hopefully the lens is sealed better this time. After trying LX100/100 II, I ended up with Canon G1X III and was very happy with the wide open lens quality and sealing as a landscape camera... However the long side portraits is on the slow side, so I ended up with a used D-Lux 7 and now a used L10 from B&H... My other solution was having gm5+42.5mm tele but again too many pieces...
I shot extensively with m43 and the lens on this camera is not comparable to other m43 lenses maybe due more physics eg look at the size of Pana 12-35mm 2.8 or 1.7 zoom lenses and the new higher MP sensors exposes the old design eg you need to stopped the lens down and supposedly the lens curvature causes the wide open results per dpr... It is a lazy update from Panasonic side, eg not updating the aged lens design... Per dpr, it is the latest Fuji P&S craze that pushed the camera manufacturers to update quickly without spending too much on R&D, RX1R III/L10 and new RX10 update... Canon is supposed to bring a new P&S camera also as rumored for a while...
Again it is about compromises and uses. It is similar size to X100VI size. It gives wider and longer zoom that will never get the same sharpness of prime lenses or maybe even similar newer Canon V1 zoom, but it will extend your shooting possibilities esp on the tele side for family/low lght outings if you want sth better than your phone... For me animal eye & faster pdaf are a plus, but going from wide to tele has the same speed as before eg too slow to be a street camera if you change the zoom...

I had an LX100, sold it, bought another, sold it, bought a Leica D-Lux 8, sold it, and bought an L10. And sold it.
The L10 is a solid feeling machine, bigger with good heft, but not too big. I liked the feel. Focus noticeably faster than its predecessors, which is good. I actually like power zoom on a camera like this, because it makes for one handed operation.
But to me the biggest issue was that the end images were not better than the D-Lux 8. or LX100. This despite updated processor and magical innards. And I was never happy with the image quality of its predecessors which is why, despite the handiness, I parted with them.
More- I recently picked up an Olympus OM-10 IV refurb from OM Systems, complete with the kit zoom, for $477. In image output, the OM with kit lens was preferable to me over the L10. And if I had to swear to it, I'd say the output quality of my little Sony RX100 VII is preferable.
I don't know why, but to me that lens just does not add up. I appreciate that it is quite fast for a compact zoom, but something about the output just seems, I dunno, thin to me.
So the L10 is a solid camera with an impressive feature list. I don't do video that much so did not test that. But for the size of the L10, I expect weather reisistance and a built-in flash- the Canon G1X III manages both, with a larger APS 24mp sensor in a smaller and lighter package than the L10. And to me, in the L10, the price:output ratio is certainly not there.
Others love it, so I'm happy for them. Me, I'm just disappointed, really looked forward to an upgrade in output.
