p.1 #1 · How to present Print for Funeral?

I'd love some personal opinions about how to print/present a photo of my beloved Aunt for her Memorial (funeral) service? She went peacefully yesterday after battling cancer - and I've been asked to print a nice, large photo for the service.

I'm thinking 18x24/26 - Wondering if you think a print on board / float print / or framed print (not matt) would look best (on an easel).

Any thoughts? We have very casual, but respectful services - no open caskets/etc. - more of a celebrating and honoring the beautiful life of our loved one.

I need to have this printed ASAP - So your opinions are greatly appreciated.

THANK YOU!

Canvas wrap. I would recommend Costco, but they print, mount and ship (and it's a bargain).

You should be able to find a local source, at steeper cost.

HTH and sorry for your loss

p.1 #3 · How to present Print for Funeral?

I have worked with a few churches during funerals (photos, A/V, sound) and can provide a few observations.

Every church is different. Some pastors/priests will let families do whatever they want for the funeral so 8x10 to poster size on gator board is ok. I actually had one funeral we displayed a picture of the deceased on the wall with a projector for most of the service.

There are some pastors/priests or people who work/volunteer at the church that may enforce limitations. I have seen a lot of "Oh, we do not do that.." responses to families. In all honesty, I would contact the church, maybe even stop by, and go look at it, talk to them about what you are wanting to do and any suggestions or limitations they have. Since you are in a rush, do it now.

What I have seen as appealing is a basic black frame and a photo between 8x10 and 11x14. Typically I have seen the 8x10 next to the guest book and a 11x14 somewhere near the front of the church on a small table or easel.

Hope this helps,
Sorry for your loss.

I need to have this
...Show more

so sorry to hear that...my whole life I never lost anyone close until recently. Sucks.

I would save time/money intially and just get a poster sized print at a local print shop or costco.

Later on get a better print done of the image. presentation grade paper is best for easel showing.

I'm sorry for your loss.

Check with the funeral home .. they do this all the time for closed casket - they may be willing to tell you how they normally have their photos enlarged.

I know at my friend's young nephews funeral where he was cremated, the photo was large and on a easel in front of the church.

My condolences.

I've done 16x20 presentation on an easel for such events (hard mount)

Also if confronted with a "we don't do that here"...I've dealt with that myself and they always seem to allow it when we're done discussing it.

thanks everyone - my church community is VERY tight knit and small - and we all grew up together - not to mention my grandfather (her father) just passed away last summer, and he was the bishop of the church. . . I don't think they've ever had any problems with people doing whatever is right for the family - so that won't be an issue - I was more wondering what size seems appropriate / etc. I'm having an 18x24 mounted on a black thin board - does that seem too big?

Thanks again!

Was the photo in a frame or mounted to board?
