Again great work and thanks for sharing these Gregory! Your "abstracts" always seem to have so much texture and life to them. I must keep shooting. Practice is very much needed.
Congratulations, thats just great. And a nice price as well. Feel free to send a donations to me, so I can help support my growing familiy.
Did you get the hood. If you get and dont need it will you sell it?
And have you got a 72 polarizer so you can use the 28 1.4 wide open daylight. Looking foreward to seeing some of your results.
Lame dude... Lame and nasty. Thanks for ruining an otherwise moderately interesting thread.
Edit: Found in the 3rd bullet "Be aware of content. Any photographs considered lewd, vulgar, sexually orientated, or pornographic in nature will be immediately deleted."
Where are the mods these days?
Anyway - I'm guessing you probably just didn't take the time to read the rules - so here you go - read up: Rules
First off , no one is forcing look at this thread. Secodly by reposting this shot that you find offensive your point is .. I am sure that those that really enjoyed it the first time really appreaciate "you" shareing it again.
Run out of idea's. Hardly, dont you know my creativity is infiniteOO . And jsut so you know I also took this subject with Nikkor 8 mm , 16mm , 14-24 as well as the with Leica M system and the 15 mm and the 28 1.9 ASPH. Anythoing worth doing is worth over doing.
This "one" shot is just one in a series on a project I am documenting , on the destruction of the habitat in one of Canada's fasted growing citys. This image depics the working condtions that the construction are forced to endure.
It's to bad you find this one photo so objectionable out all that all that I shared on this thread. Some people can only see the negative. At least you didnt pick apart the the techinal qualityis of the image. The film one's turned out far better to my eye and the Nikkor 8 mm 2.8 was more creative image.. But one canb never really tell which one will be the best when the smell of the out house is makeing yoiu nearly thow up and the tempurate was in the -20 range.
What can I say other than thanks for taking time to look at my photography. Feel free to get your own Nikkor 28 1.4 AF-D and show the world how it's really done. I look forward to your efforts.
I am so glad that you find the photo's in this thread moderately interesting.
I must say your less than glowing support for my images really dosnt make my day, but I wont let in ruin it either.
Hey oobie isnt you reposting my image that "you" deem objectionable also a violation of the rules?
And I am sure the moderators have seen this image the first time and like me they don't think violates the rules. I am curious why your making such a stink about it. Especailly now. Bad day at work? Not happy with your own photography? .
Get out and take some pictures and don't worry about this thread.
And please don't call me "dude" my name is Gregory or Greg if you want, and your name is...?

It was sitting on eBay for a bit and I just bought it for $2149. With eBates and eBucks, it'll be just shy of $2100.
So I guess there are still those nuts that would pay more for it than the 24/1.4. At least I didn't buy the one Adorama has for $3500.
Just not a huge fan of the 24mm length and it has too much distortion for portraits IMO. Drawing styles are very different as well. But there are those that simply look at MTF charts and ignore subjective qualities of unique glass. Your comparative shot illustrated the resovling power of the 28mm in shadow detail well. Visible rocks compared to black empty space.
My copy has the HN-9 hood. Appears close enough in dimension to the correct HK-7 hood. Screw ons don't bug me that much.
The Nikon 28 1.4 on a Canon? Very cool! Nice to see your pic's in this thread.
@Greg. It is real strange to me that your port-a potty pic gets so much attention and reaction. And I do think the 8mm is better Why is poop offensive? What those works have to endure is offensive and not the poop shack so much as the never ending cold, I think the -20 is just another kind of heck.., just working in that makes a person physically hurt and mentally tired. I can imagine the workers having to endure that and then taking a visit to that shack and just clicking off one more misery notch on the belt..
I have seen some pics from war fronts that are nothing more than a cut milk crate on the side of a road with a hole under it, this was considered good. And in many parts/majority of the world that would be considered a palace for doing the deed.
And if I had the coin I would get the 28 1.4 ASAP. In my eyes it is a real special lens, almost like your 300 F2 but it just does not compress time and space like that one does..
Hey Brad, Thanks pal it's nice to know some one get's it. As it happens I met up with the superviser on the site and relayed the conditons and it was nice to see him get right on the phone and have the honey wagon come out and clean the unit.
I took your comment about the compression of space and time as a personal challenge.
I hope you like this next set. For many of these I got down and dirty on the half frozen wet and muddy half frozen prairie ground.
Nikkor 28 1.4 AF-D with 72 polarizer on Nikon D3 some with Sb-900 TTL.

Thanks, Brad. Yeah, I use it on my 5D2 and my nikon fm cameras. I dont have a d700 yet. I went for the nikon 28 and got rid of my canon 24...I'm keeping my 5d2 strictly for a couple of canon lenses i can never part with and I use a couple of nikkors too. my set up isn't really practical but it's just a stop gap measure for digital shooting till i can get a nikon fx digital camera.
Acidnaut, I used my Nikkor 28 1.4 on the Canon 5D-2 when I had that camera and when the mount wanst falling off it worked really well. I love to see more of you work with the Nikkor 28 1.4 AF_D. Have you got any of you film shots scanned?
first off, hats off to you for still using this lens as much as you do and for your continued contributions...I haven't seen anyone use this lens as prolifically as you have on the entire internet, I think. Very good stuff, man!
I just finished shooting a roll of some fujicolor 100 and am going to get it processed this week (along with some noct shots made with a roll of agfachrome 1000 rs --- expired super grainy slide film which might need to get pushed a little) so hopefully later this week or next week I'll have a few shots to show. I don't know how reliable the fm3a or fm's light meter is at night, so i dont even know how they're going to turn out, lol.
here's a shot of my sister and i at mcdonalds a few months ago
Thanks very much for the kind words. First off, your sister is beautifull and I really like that picture of her. She looks very comfortable and the light contrast between the light and shadow is very nice. Secondly dont worry about your film shots they are going to be great. The FM2 meter is really good in low light. I am really looking forward to seeing your shots with the Noct as well.
