Thanks you guys, Not a new lens for me, as I have had it for a couple of years. I gave up a lot to get it and I think it was worth it.
Even though I have been shooting for a long time, I was at a point in my photography where I wanted to get more personal with my photography. The Nikkor 28 1.4 AF-D was just the ticket for me to getting up close and personal. I often use the Nikon 72 polarizer with this lens to cut back the light to use it wide open during the day.
And that choice of using the Nikkor 28 1.4 AF-D led me to getting a 28 1.9 ASPH for my Lecia M system.
Fantasitc B+W images Jean. You got a amazing eye for compostion and the desisive moment.
Gregory--no doubt 28mm 1.4 is one of the greatest Nikkor. I love it when I had my Nikon system. It was built like a tank and the image at 1.4 was wonderful. While not as sharp or contrasty as the new 24mm 1.4, the shadow details of 28mm 1.4 is just breath-taking. I consider as one of my two favorite Nikkor wide-angle. One is the 18mm 2.8 and another is 28mm 1.4.

New lens? Congratulations, I wondered how it would fare in your hands, and it looks like an excellent match!
Not sure which one of us you are addressing, but I got my 28/1.4D about 5 years ago just when it was just discontinued. I didn't use it much with DX bodies (because it really wasn't wide enough) but it's gained a new life with the D3 & D3s. I'm not interested in the 24/1.4G because I'm not really much of a wide angle shooter anyway but I'll probably get a 35/1.4G as soon as B&H gets some. Of course, I'll still keep the 28/1.4D!
The fact is the Nikkor 28 1.4 AF-D is differnt focal length than the Nikkor 24 1.4 AFS and the 35 1.4 AFS. And while 4mm dosnt sound like very much on the wide end and 7mm on the long end in the feild well , to me the Nikkor 28 1.4 AF-D is the third bowel of pourge. Just right.
That shot of the porto-potty with the stained toilet paper is disgusting. I'm curious why on earth would you put yourself through the vile visual and olfactory experience of opening up such a thing in order to take that picture?
Thanks for taking the time to comment. It interesting that you single that one photo out of all the ones I posted taken with theNikkor 28 1.4 AF-D. As far as why I took this photo because It documented the appalling conditions workers in local construction site are forced to endure.
And on a artist level I liked the color and composition of the image.
Here is another one you might like. Photography isnt always pretty. Or another way of looking at it is beaty is in the eye of te belholder. In much of the work "what it is" isnt as important as how it's done and the emotional reaction it envoke in the view.

Fantastic piece of art though isn't it? Makes you rile and feel like throwing up. He's evoked a visceral reaction.
