Nifty Fifty wroteBecause it’s blindingly obvious that significant alterations have been made here—most likely using AI. For one thing, the background has been completely changed; it’s not just a matter of adding a few highlights—the entire composition of the background has been overhauled, to the point where what’s visible now bears no resemblance to the original image. Furthermore, the scale of the person in relation to the background has been altered. The whole thing is a botched job that has only made matters worse, and it also comes across as looking completely and artificially manipulated.
Happy to read that you enjoyed the image.
Well, frankly, it’s an absolute cheek to claim that you only used dodging and burning—when it’s patently obvious that this is a lie, to call a spade a spade. The fact that I don’t like the result is, in this context, rather beside the point. I can really only imagine one scenario that would lead to such an outcome while you still somehow convince yourself that you only applied dodging and burning: perhaps you uploaded the image to an AI and asked it to dodge and burn, but the AI—unfortunately—ended up doing significantly(!) more than that.
Oh now I see your issue. It is either a language or reading problem. I never used the term "only". I guess you added that in your head?

In fact, I never addressed how I did it. I only said I used dodging and burning to enhance the appearance of depth to the image.

That is 100% true.

Get a dictionary and re-read the definition of dodging and burning. It contains no reference to tools, methods, technique, or limitation...Those are all coming from whatever is troubling you.
Your excuse is even more inadequate than your photo editing, haha.😄

As for dodging and burning, I don’t need to look up what those terms mean. Unlike you, I actually spent many years practicing these techniques, quite literally, in a darkroom.
The stuff you’re showing here really has nothing to do with that. Furthermore, I always have to chuckle when people who know nothing beyond their Lightroom sliders and who have never even set foot inside a darkroom, let alone produced a proper, hand-crafted print, try to lecture me about tools, methods, techniques, and Ansel Adams. 😂
Except once again you make assumptions without basis. I do have two analog cameras, and do shoot film. I develop the film myself rather than use a lab. I have both printed from Negatives and scanned and printed digitally. It is not however a main process for me, and I don't have years of experience nor consider myself an expert.

I am absolutely not trying to lecture you about tools etc.. I am not interested in doing that. I am just having on open conversation on our community forum.

That chip you have on your shoulder must be starting to hurt

Well, I still remember the drama surrounding the film development. If your prints look the same way (and I assume they do), then there’s no point in us discussing this any further. Furthermore, I believe that a somewhat more direct tone is entirely appropriate when someone shows up here with some kind of AI nonsense, deceives people with it, and then tries to dodge responsibility by making excuses.

That chip you have on your shoulder must be starting to hurt a bit to inspire so much vitriol. Wipe it off a bit, you might feel better. OK that may be lecture . But a well intentioned one...

yeah, he used the term "dodging" and "burning" but actually used AI manipulation (you can use https://openai.com/research/verify/ to upload the modified photo to confirm that it is AI-generated or was AI-manipulated) like it's the same thing. it was a weird flex.
