Re: What is your most recent (alt) lens purchase?

Jim, thank you for that information. I have not seen the Sun brand associated with Sigma before, 'tho I have seen speculation about collaboration between Sun and Pentax (and perhaps other) lens designers. Apparently Sun produced lenses with a generic mount and bolted on an adapter plate for whatever mount was needed. I found that my PhotoDiox Pro OM-E adapter would not latch with this lens, although it snaps in fine on my OM1. A PhotoDiox tech confirmed my supposition that tolerances were not as tight back in the day, and I followed his advice to buy the cheapest no-name adapter I could find, which works fine

This lens is big and heavy - about 620 grams. Below is a photo comparing it to the OM 40mm and Voigtlander 21 Scopar for perspective. Also three very quick-n-dirty test photos, the second using the close-focus feature, which works quite well once past the contorted process for activating it. I look ahead to doing some real-world testing outside when the weather becomes bearable and brings us some interesting subjects.

I was told that this lens was brought home by an American serviceman on an OM body, and that he said that this was the only lens he had ever owned for that camera and the only lens he had ever needed.
