Jim, sorry this took so long. I had a crazy work week, but here's the Actus with the standard bellows and rotating camera mount. Also in the photo, you can see the ACB-310, which is the wide angle bellows for the Sony a7 series. You can get lens plates for Copal 0 and 1, m39, Leica R, Nikon F, Canon EF (with aperture control), Hassy V, Mamiya 645, Mamiya RB/RZ, Pentax 67, and Pentax 645. The rear standard allows for 12mm rise, 15mm fall, and 20mm shift in either direction (for a total of 40mm). The front standard can rotate 180 degrees for virtually unlimited swing and can tilt 10 degrees in either direction.
The standard bellows gets you about 30mm between the front of the rear standard and sensor, so it can handle most view camera lenses 50mm and up. With the Sony in portrait orientation, I can also get to infinity on the Schneider 47 SA MC, which is the film version of the new 47 APO-Digitar, without interference, but switching to landscape moves the sensor back just enough so 47 has to go inside the rear standard. You can use the standard bellows with any of the medium format lenses.
The ACB-310 allows down to 22mm between the front of the rear standard and the sensor, so it will work with the Rodenstock 32, 35, and 40 HR's as well as the APO-Grandagon 45 (pictured), and the Schneider 35 XL, 38 XL, and 43 APO-Digitar. The wide bellows also allow enough extension to use with any of the medium format lenses so long as you use the lens' helicoid to focus.

Let me know if you want additional information. I am positively in love with mine....Show more →
Brilliant! Thanks for posting details. Looks like a great solution, although presumably very pricey.
I started something similar a while ago but threw in the towel when I realised how limiting the long register and subsequent 'window box shadowing' was with Canon EF bodies. I figured I would continue the experiment when I picked up a Sony FF body, hopefully in the not too distant future.
My intent is to use fairly fast large format glass, such as the Xenar 3.5/180 below, or maybe some relatively fast (a relative term) enlarging lenses over a larger format.

Here's my S-K 180/4.5 on a Mamiya Auto Bellows N. Reverse keystone on the example image shows it was at an oblique angle. I used about 5 deg of tilt.

Just took receipt of a brand new in box (still sealed in the shrink wrap!) Leica 90 Cron-R E55.
I was pretty nervous unboxing it but everything inside is exactly as expected brand new. Paid a little extra for the premium but not a lot. Now to make it not new anymore, collectors be damned!

Yes, pricey. And I knew the initial system purchase was just the beginning. What I will eventually have is two systems. The short rail with the wide bellows for city and landscapes, and a long rail and bellows for close focus/macro. It ticks off enough boxes for me that I'd say it's worth every penny, but that's probably because it pleases the gear-head in me just as much as it pleases the photographer, and that is a rare combination. And then there are those gems I get to put on the front.
I like your design. It reminds me of a classic field camera. I'll be interested to see it come to fruition.
Oh, and the 105 came. It's lovely. Looking, anyway. The M39 plate is in transit, so I won't know how it draws until next week.

I'm sure it is worth every penny. It looks like it's not too big or heavy either which can be a real show stopper. It's difficult to take a Sinar P anywhere (the rig in the GIF), it's just crazy big and heavy. I'm green with envy! Good luck with it.

Good to know it's in nice condition. It would be nice to see some sample images from it, especially with respect to LoCA and bokeh.

Since Doug Herr (telyt) has ordered and has been having good luck with a Canon FD 500mm f/4.5 L FD lens I decided to place an order for one. I placed an order for one in E++ condition from Tokyo, Japan on 7/20/15 with the hard trunk case and keys, hood, rear cap, leather front cap, and strap. Amazingly, through EMS and the USPS the lens was delivered about 2 hours ago. I have never seen such fast delivery through EMS from around the world.
I have noticed what appears to possibly be a couple of small fingerprints or loss of some lens coating in a small area of the inside of the lens protector element (maybe this was there since manufacture?). The lens itself appears to function properly and I also just received a Novoflex Canon FD to NEX adapter. I have yet to be able to check focus on anything that has been registering as infinity.
The lens will supplement my Leica R 180mm f3.4 Apo Telyt, my Leica R 80-200mm f4 Vario Elmar zoom, and my Leica R 280mm f4 Apo Telyt alone and with my Leica R 1.4X and Leica R 2X Apo Extenders. The lens will probably normally take the place of my Leica R 560mm f6.8 Telyt lens. Hopefully I will add a Sony A7rII to my A7r at the end of this year or the beginning of next and I can have both the 500mm Canon and the 280mm Leica Apo Telyt alone or with the Leica 1.4X extender on the other camera when needed.
I will say this about the lens, focus does not feel anything like my Leica R 280 f4 Apo Telyt lens. The lens seems to have come in under spec for weight without the front and rear caps and the hood at about 2580 grams (specs show 2610 grams). I will need to run many many more tests of the lens and look at more images. First initial images look pretty sharp at f4.5 at 100% where I focused with my A7r.
I am going to replace the foot of the lens with a foot/plate. Hopefully this will make the lens a little more convenient to mount and a little bit less weight than using the Canon foot and the 6" rail that I have presently mounted to the lens.

On my endless journey of trying various normal lenses for finding ones with some character:
Konica Hexanon AR 57mm F1.2
Really short for 57mm f/1.2 lens (e.g. comparing to Minolta Rokkor 58mm f/1.2). Lens is quite weak wide open, and no miracles happen closing it down either. Boke is rough and ugly @ f/1.2 on medium/long distances. Needs more shooting to find something positive from the lens.
Lens is so beautiful that mosquitos came to admire it

A months-old Summitar 50 f2.4, my most expensive lens yet but one I intend to keep for many years (don't we always say that?). I saved about A$700 off new price.
p.223 #12 · What is your most recent (alt) lens purchase?
I haven't found anything special about mine.
Though, I have not used it no where near enough.
I just love my Rokkor 58/1.2 sooo much more.

recieved the Minolta CLE with 28 40 and 90 M-rokkor.
to my surprise the 28 has perfect Glas but together with 90 and the body it has to go,
to finance the 40.
and the 40 fits perfect to A7. like this combo a lot.
just like my beloved CLE or Hi Matic 7 II in film days.

I bought a Canon FD 300 2.8 and a 500 f4.5L from Japan a year or more ago & the were both delivered to the US east coast in about 36-40 hours, by the US postal service, it was astounding how fast they arrived from Japan.

Okay, it's not a recent purchase, but I finally mounted and used the following:
This monster is the Leitz Telyt 280/4.8 which was released in 1961, and optically tweaked in 1969 (my version). As a mere achromat, it cannot compete with the later Apo-Telyt-R 280/4 for image clarity. The build quality and sheer mass, however, is unbeatable: a fine example from the Golden Era of Leitz Wezlar (although actually made in Midland). This lens has a Visoflex M mount which makes it trivially adaptable to every camera, including Nikon F. I scored this off eBay for $165.
