Just bought a trio of Tokina's: 12-24 f4, 16-50 2.8 and 50-135 2.8. Had the 16-50 and 50-135 Pentax equivalents and they were fabulous lenses. So far, both seem to equal their siblings on my D7000.

sweet! hope the internals are still good after sitting for all that time. it's definitely a step up from the x700 in pretty much every way.
Knowing my luck it will be ceased up. Anyone know how easy old slrs are to open up and clean/lube?

The older manual focus lenses are generally considered alt, regardless of manufacturer. There is also at least one member who posts Canon L lens shots on Canon bodies, but he is impossible to discourage.

Both alt. It isn't really fair to penalize Nikon for keeping long-term compatibility AF is where the line is usually drawn for Nikkors.
You could be in big trouble with that...
We have 3718 pages of folks doing that in the Nikon forum... but I promise not to tell them...

I now have a Contax 60/2.8 Macro headed my way. Very excited to have that lens back, even if adapting it to Alpha looks like an outside chance at best. It can be the a7's macro lens.

I'm looking at one of those too! You and I are always looking at the same lenses, but you beat me to them. Same with the A7 too! It's like looking into the future.

Latest Pentax-M SMC 85mm f/2. Nice and sharp and small. Have the adapter for my X-family and plan to get one for my e-mount. I now have the 28mm f/2.8, 35mm f/2, 50mm f/1.4, 85mm f/2, and 135mm f/3.5

Bought a couple of Sigma lenses for my D7100 - a 10-20 off the B&S board here and a new 17-70 'C'.
When I bought the D7100, I got the kit with the 18-140VR. Since I'd been promising my wife a replacement for her 18-55II, I gave her the 18-140VR. I did use it for a couple days and found it to be a very nice piece of glass. Surprised me. Since we go out together frequently and since I'm rebuilding my Nikon gear (after an abortive venture down the M43 rabbit hole), I needed a replacement for that focal range.
Didn't want to go back down the road of real heavy pro gear (when I'm no pro) but I still want great IQ. Hopefully this new lens will give me both. It was a real internal struggle - I liked the range and IQ of the 18-140VR but wanted a brighter lens. I really debated going with what I had before, the 24-120/4 or perhaps the Sigma 24-105/4 but really wanted lighter weight.

It's the S. I'll let you know if we're happy with it on the a7.

I just picked up a Voigtlander 90mm f/3.5 APO SLII. It is a nice small lens that should be very well corrected and with a very short MFD. I am looking forward to putting it through its paces.

This is what I'm looking for. There are fairly many Canon EF versions, whereas other mounts at reasonable prices are almost not seen in the EU.
