But they are expensive. The 35/2 and 50/2 cost 370 euro less from the shops in the Netherlands where I ordered from

I just got 2 new ZEs last week. The 50/2 MP and the 21/2.8, they're awesome! I also recently completed my voigtlander set with the 90/3.5. That is an excellent lens as well!

I can't decide what my next ZE will be. I'm debating between the 28/2 or the 35/2. Eventually, I will also get the 100/2 as well. I also hope they release a longer tele like a 180 someday. The 1.4s don't really interest me.

Having both 28/2 and 35/2 I prefer 35/2.It fits nicely the gap between 21/2.8 and 50/2 MP (and 50/1.4 in my case).

I've gotten all my Zeiss ZE and ZM lenses from the Zeiss online shop except the 85 Planar (impulse buy in a shop) and 35/2 ZM (bought it in the shop where I bought the camera for it).

cameranu seems to be the cheapest for this lens, at 1049 Euro plus shipping and 2% extra if paying by credit card or PayPal, but I have an offer which includes shipping from Photo Porst at 1080 Euro, where I can pay with PayPal, so I think I might take that then. But all this 50 Planar talk is getting me nervous. Perhaps I should play with that lens before deciding. Damn!

Yes I bought it for 1049 Euro. And the 35/2 for 729 Euro. Especially the 35/2 was very low priced

When in doubt, get both! No but seriously, trying a Planar may be an idea. With the 50 MP you are getting to a large degree a shorter version of the 100 MP. The 100 MP is somewhat better optically across the frame but in essence the drawing style is similar. The 50 Planar on the other hand is very different. You may find that you really like it.. or not.

Here in the UK, the 2/35 is around EU930 - fully EU200 dearer than Kamera Express... Seeing those prices on the sites you posted has made me think about perhaps ordering from them.

That was cheap! I usually scan the english and finnish shops and found that Zeiss was at the same level, or lower. And as ick kaan nijt hoolandiihk aatooll, those lowland shops were ouut oof rijtj. (And I hate that vanBommelball they´ve turned their football into nowadays... Was a firm supporter back in the Ruud Gullit, Reikhart, van Basten, Kluivert days).

I could get both, but I would rather get one. I do better work with a limited number of lenses, not too close together. It keeps my head clearer or something. I love the 100MP (as one loves a lens), and was fully hoping the 50MP to be similar, with perhaps a little less magic, but slightly better CA handling, but some of the 50 Planar shots are amazing. I think I will still have to start with the 50MP though. I do shoot up close and wide open frequently, and would not want to give up the performance there.
At what distance does the 50 Planar start to catch up to the 50MP at f/2?

It doesn't. It catches up around f/5.6 perhaps. At f/2 it's still rather soft. Mind you, I have taken exactly 23 shots with the Planar of which 6 were at f/1.4 and 12 were at f/5.6, so my experience is rather limited.
The point of the Planar is however not it's sharpness (although it is very sharp f/5.6 and beyond) but its drawing style.

Well, I ordered my ZF2 50MP, so I guess that is my latest alt lens. I also bought a Nikkor 16mm f/2.8 fisheye, but since I don't use Canon, this isn't alt. Very silly really, IMO. I think we need to redefine alt somehow, so that for a given lens, it doesn't depend on which camera you have. Something like non-G lenses for Nikon, for example.
