Guys, i love this thread, love the pics also but i have a feeling as if the subject is totally in frame the results are better than the part of the subject in frame photos, is it just me?

I'm ordering a 200/2G VR II next week as well as a RRS LCF-15 replacement foot. Since the lens is relatively short (no longer than a 70-200/2.8G), is there any need for one of RRS's long lens packages too? I'll use the lens with a Gitzo 1325 tripod (with RRS BH-55 ballhead) and a Gitzo 1568 monopod.
I don't think you need to use a RRS long lens package. I have the RRS LCF-15 on the VR II. It's quite a long foot. When attached to your tripod, If you zoom in on Live View you can see by tapping the lens hood where the most solid clamping position on the LCF-15 is. I've found the most stable position is when the clamp is attached close to the collar, using my Gitzo 3351LS with a D3 attached.
I found it too awkward trying to get high ball shots by tilting my Gitzo GM3551 monopod backwards so I've ordered a RRS MH-01 monopod head, but it is yet to arrive.
Well, just being able to post in this thread... ;-)
The 200 F2,0 is wonderfull lens, and last week I took some photos I think are worth sharing. I hope you enjoy these as much as I enjoyed spending time with our dog and coming home with these memories.

Monkey, your shots convinced me-I just ordered one. Should be here thursday.
( I shattered my left wrist in 6 places, a couple of years ago-I just hope I can hold it successfully!)
I shoot stage shows from the crowd, so a pod is out of the question.

Congrats!! The BushHawk has been a huge help in that regard. Just check in
with Security first, and show 'em it's a camera. GL
Shooting it like Trenchmonkey damn near impossible.
you're very kind...I may post a fair amount of shots, but there are some really
great shooters using the Chubster...here and on the Cafe. It's truly a lens that makes
everyone look good.
