Do want this lens. I'm waiting for it, so I can finally sell my far too heavy and not really sharp 24-70L (especially at the edges). I will accompany the Samyang 35/1.4 with the 14/2.8 and 85/1.4 (I will buy them at once). At that moment I will have the following focal-lengths: 14, 20, 28, 35, 45, 50, 58, 85 and 135. I then also have only 1 zoom lens left (and only Canon): 70-200 f/4 IS.
Sorry for going offtopic, but I just wanted to tell about my dream lens set (maybe a MP 100/2 someday)

Out of curiousity why not the Nikkor 35/1.4 Ai/Ais?
Of course it remains to be seen, but if the Samyang 35 is similar to the Samyang 85 1.4, it will provide superior performance wide open compared to just about anything else around. It incorporates an aspherical element as well as two high refractive elements, all of which should contribute to superior performance compared to the older Nikkor...at faster F-stops at least.
Then stay well clear of the mega new Zeiss 1.4/35mm, at 850 grams - must be made of lead, since they make a big deal of it being 'all-metal'. For comparison, the older Contax 1.4/35mm is sensibly dimensioned (for a street lens) at:
76x70mm, 600g
...so these three (Canon L, Samyang and Contax) are in the same ballpark.
Just checked out some seriously complex, capable 'pro' grade large zooms from Canikon and Sony for mass comparisons - which at least have a reason for their weight:
Canon 70-200 f4 IS (20 elements in 15 groups) - 760g
Nikon 14-24 f2.8 (15 elements in 11 groups) - 900g
Sony (CZ) 16-35mm f2.8 (17 elements in 13 groups) - 900g
Yeah it is longer and heavier than the ZE/ZF 100/2. Heavier than the 21.It will be the new "heavyweight" in the ZE/ZF prime line. The new Nikon 24/1.4G is lighter by a lot.

I want this lens very much, but I am disappointed to realize that it is noticably bigger and heavier than my already too big Canon 35/1.4 L.
Canon : 86x79mm, 580g
Samyang: 111x83mm, 660g
Me too. I hadn't really looked into its size, but assumed it'd be 500g at most. Disappointing, because I find 24LII to be on the heavy side and it's 650g I think.
If the new Zeiss 35/1.4 hadn't been so large and heavy I'd be willing to buy it even though it's expensive, since 35mm is my favorite focal length.
I guess I'll keep my 35L and maybe buy the X100 when it becomes available.
Alright, it's February, 2011. I've not been able to find any information from the usual places (samyang.pl, foto-tip.com and lenstip.com), but I'm still hoping that something will be available soon

For those of you who can't read Polish ;-)
This member of the local photo forum devoted to the Canon gear posted a message today hinting that " this lens would be available in about 6 weeks at the earliest" (he sent an e-mail to Samyang and this is what they said).
