Ok Philber thanks for that. Does it not fit because of any rear element fouling?
i don't think is was anything optical causing problems, as somebody over on getdpi managed to make one work. don't remember what they had to modify though...
Really wanting to try out the new features of the new FW version but for some reason it won't let me saying something to the effect that I need to download the 32bit kernel version. I am using a Mac and just upgraded to Lion the other day. Does this have something to do with it? Really wanting to try out these new features and will be bummed if I can't...

Ooops, my bad! Thanks to sebboh and apologies to Mark!
Regarding the Contax G 35-70, Bo-Ming, a learned member of this board (he does all the N to EOS conversions), claims that it simply won't fit a NEX IIRC. I would be weary of going against that statement...
Let me clarify... I said a G 35-70 did not fit on a Metabones G to NEX adapter, because the ultrawide focusing ring of the adapter interferes with the G 35-70, which was just so slightly bigger than the other G lenses.

So is there any suitable adaptor that will allow the use of the G35-70 on the NEX5? it must be a good lens and should be a ooh match to the NEX5.
i assume the kipon should work, if it is just the focus ring on the metabones that causes trouble.
I'm not sure this is the place to raise this but aside from the lack of any type of view finder I find one of the biggest problems I have with the NEX5 is battery life. I had 50% battery life showing and it lasted about an hour maybe a little less while walking around taking shots. This is way worse than I get with my 5d2. I have bought a second battery and it's no better with that! And before you ask yes I have got the latest firmware (focus peaking).
I guess it depends on your shot frequency, but I have my NEX's power saver set to the lowest setting, and, now that the camera starts up so quickly, I turn it off between shots.
