the AF nature of the lens really is it's main weakness. i'm always annoyed when i have to use it. i haven't found a MF lens i like of similar focal length yet though.

philber -- Thanks for the information and your consistant example of patience and care and attention to detail with tripods and ISO 100. . .And I have never seen a Leica 75 Summicron APO
sebboh - Thanks for great images and the comments on the Sigma, more education for me as usual, in fact I just decoded the the word "sigmarit." I must be getting old -- I am old!
Michiel -- I am getting an education on lenses and composition from your great images.
I am amazed at how somebody can just name a lens and you guys can pull one out of a hat and demo, especially when the hat includes Zeiss and Leica and so many others.
Jim -- you are always reminding me of clean uncomplicated composition.
Alan -- You make me want to look at more FD lenses even though it it painful to remember how many of those I sold off for pennies twenty-five years ago.
One other thing. I am amazed when I hear one of you say you are trying out one lens or another. Every lens I ever handled was purchased. The first time I every see a lens is when I open the mail. Tell me how to try lenses. That would be a trick.
Been a while since I've posted in the thread of fine Nex Photos.
Last weekend I went to the NHRA Drag Races in Bristol TN. I took my Nex and a few short lenses. My goal was to NOT take pictures of the races but get pictures of the people. I got a few in the pits then I went into the tunnels that went under the track to get to my seats. There were three hallways in the tunnel with small doors between them. I spent most of the time between rounds shooting people in the tunnel. Right before I went to the races our local Academy of Fine Arts asked me to fill in for a gallery show in July along with another artist after someone cancelled. I decided to use only shots from this weekend for the show. And the best part is that the artist that I"m sharing the gallery with is my wife, an oil painter.
All shots with the Lens Turbo and MD 50 1.4. Basically a straight B&W conversion of the raw, no other processing, most at 1/250, F8 ISO 3200.
