I am not sure, but there is no connection with defensive martial arts..I hope. Yes, I am continually amazed by this Minolta zoom lens. It is the only zoom I use and it is as sharp as a prime. I am going to try it on a Turbo Booster and see if I can get an available light, f/2.5 zoom lens with a very useful true 35-70 range.

Congratulations! Outstanding. I followed your progress, all the time wondering what was the resale value of the accumulated parts of the two lenses. I am in no way tempted to follow in your steps, but I admire your achievement all the more for just having thrown away a Minolta lens I had managed to impair beyond hope.

oh no! what happened to the minolta lens?
as far as resale value goes i spent $15 on the rokkor, a bit more than $300 for the g28, and about $10 for raw materials. the entire thing conversion was non-destructive so both lenses could be fully restored if i were ever inclined (anybody need a g28 body minus optics?).
