This week ended up being crazy busy to shoot so I thought I'd post my NEX setup that I use on my fast lenses.
The rear is a hoodman 1:1 loupe (no magnification) permanently glued onto the plastic clip on LCD guard SONY makes. I can put it on and take it off in a second.
I makes the camera deeper, but the NEX hangs vertically anyway so it does not interfere with that.
It works really well, especially for fast teles.
EDIT:in the front is a CANON G10 lens adapter used as a hood for the Nikkor 55 1.2 S.C., onto a KIPON tilt adapter. ...Show more →
Got my metabones adapter today... dissapointed so far. It is jerky and hard to focus both my 90/2.8 and 40/2 with it... if this kind of focus feel is the reality of G-lenses... gah, I have to sell them both and find me some alternatives :P

try working it in maybe? my kipon is pretty smooth now, haven't used the metabones. they'll never compare to a real focus ring though.
Hmm, been using it the entire evening/afternoon now... It is a real disappointment so far :/ It really kills the pleasure for me, jumping past the focus point, jumping past it on the way back, having to nudge and nudge to find the right focus. I think I'll go for m-mount lenses instead. Sucks that I have a 45/2 and 90/2.8 that I'll most likely not use.. but that's life.

that sounds really bad, i'd say return the adapter and get a new one but it takes so long... maybe open the adapter up and add some grease?

The thing is, the adapter on its own runs like a clock, and the lens too if I use a screw-driver in the focus-screw.. It seems like there is a problem with a fit or something. I have a m-adapter on it's way anyway due any day now, so when my paycheck arrives I'll just get a 35/1.4 (CV) and see if I can live with the optical limitations of that instead. I guess I can grow used to the choppyness, but it is so random, sometimes it flows smoothly, but then it just hangs and I have to use quite a bit of force to move it. Weird stuff. I thought Metabones was a "good" provider. Well, I'll stop whining now

yup, that sounds like a screw engagement issue, i'd ask for my money back on the adapter.
I am getting a bit weary dragging my nex vg10 everywhere....
My nex-5 was locking into the "shutter half press" mode---note your menu button disappears when you do this. It would shoot but no adjustments. It fixed itself once and then did it again.
Apparently there is one technician--and one only--who works on these cameras in the USA, Carlos at Laredo. Of course the camera started behaving fine after UPS bounced it around and he got it. At first they thought I was just a newbie who didn't know the functions. I explained. Another week passed. Then 10 days ago Carlos called personally and said, "well I'll send it back and if it does it again, I'll just get you a new one. You''ll have it wednesday (last)."
Finally today I rang back---apparently Carlos did get it to misbehave. Now he is waiting on parts..........

Uhoh7 - where were those pics taken? Absolutely gorgeous countryside! I would love to ride there....
TY, it's idaho. Fantastic singletrack. This is our spring riding area--still way too much snow on about 80% of trails in our area.

sebboh- you are right. I did not realize that until this morning when I took a morning jog with NEX. ( things I can never to with D700 ) NEX is a great little one for business trip and also for hiking.
