the Frogs are killer shots.
Was late to the party tonight, unfortunately, as the sun was already set. took this handheld. with 5n, 16mm pancake and the wide angle adapter. 1/60 sec, iso 400 -1250, f 3.5. its a panorama of 5 vertical shots.
Best sunset we've had in a while - aurora borealis-esque looking south from Venice. Hopefully winter will come soon enough so the sun will set into the ocean and not Malibu.
Seems ridiculous typing this for anybody who will be freezing their butts off in the midwest and not in socal.

those frog images just made me visit the ebays for a minolta 135mm
+1 about considering this lens, but for my GXR... very compelling based on the frogs...
Bob - take a drive up the Green Bay peninsula some time. I was up there in October last year when all the fall color was already well past peak in most of Wisconsin, but for some reason (micro climate?) it was just hitting peak there, and there are some similar very nice roads too. BTW, no football games for me in Minneapolis this year, so unfortunately won't be in the area for a visit..
Bob, looks like a cool place for some casual shooting, very atmospheric
Seboh, cool shot
Philipe, London is heavenly for a guy who loves the street
sirjohn, nice set of Siena, nice compotitions and attention to details
Phillip, the frog shot is excellent.
thanks @philber, Jim, kevindar, frezeiss, JeffG, rscheffler
@Jim: i did indeed buy a Nex-7 but i like the 5n's sensor more, it is more compact and it offers a touch screen so i often take the 5n instead of the 7, especially if i want to use one of my favorite lenses, the G28.
I really like your work with that Jena Biotar, it seems to be pretty rare and there isn't much info about it available, do you know any good resource?
What i understood is that it is a reworked cinema lens?
@jefff & rscheffler
The Minolta MD 135/2.8 is a real steal, they often sell for less than 30€ here in germany.
Its only weakness is that it flares quite easily.
Here is a handheld full resolution sample: Nex 7, 1/800 sec., f/5.6 (i corrected it for CAs, shot at iso 200, the Nex 7 is quite a noisy one).
@sebboh your daughter has grown quite a bit since i discovered this thread, really like those shots

Its also a relatively large and heavy lens - I own one, but I tend to use my CZJ 135 f/3.5 more often because its much smaller and lighter.

I also own the heavier and earlier version, the later md was reduced from 535g to 365g and lost 7mm.
Phillip- The CZJ Biotar is quite a rare lens. From my research they did make a handful for Leica Rangefinders.I am not certain that mine is a Cine lens remounted. Its possible that it is one of the Leica mounts remounted if that makes any sense. http://camerapedia.wikia.com/wiki/Zeiss_39mm_screw_lenses
Philip i am curious about your comment about liking the 5N sensor more than the 7 is this mostly because of the WA lens issue? Can you elaborate?

Thanks for posting CV 35 1.4 shots coloured, I am looking into this lens as a 50mm standard and I have been looking for good samples. Seems like a nice compact setup for NEX, and it has a nice focusing tab.
I had been getting great results with my cheapie fujian 35mm, but I may need a non toy lens in that range that is also small. cheers
You're welcome, I can't claim that my images with this lens do it justice.. but I certainly enjoy using it, the focus tab takes a bit of getting used to on the nex because of its position, but once you're used to it.. it feels really nice.
Street shots can be tricky, because of the MF aspect.. but its certainly enjoyable! I can't say much for the way the lens renders color, maybe someone else can comment on this.. to me some color shots work others are better converted to BW... but then again I am really only just learning about all of this.
Sebboh, thanks for your comments! Really appreciated coming from you... I certainly look up to you in terms of learning from your images!
Please let me know how you guys feel about these images, they are all shot with the CV 35mm f1.4 - all post processed BW (I know they are a cross post from the BW sub forum, but I tend to find more feedback here
They are all post processed BW - and I am open to reprocessing and all of that good stuff, so please let me know your thoughts
