I'm not sure to be honest. I've seen Grizzly bears before which were black
and I haven't seen many Black bears... They just woke up so they look skinny

There is way more grizzlies than black bears in Sequoia NP,
so my guess was "grizzly"

Unless you were at a zoo, I think that's a black bear cub. There hasn't been a wild grizzly in California since the 1920s.
