Piotr_P, those are some stunning images. And models.

sculptormic, I like the cathedral shot, however IQ looks like my MC 21, good but not great. Edges are a little fuzzy. Nice light.

Biogon 21 again:

And one with the 85 Sonnar:

Not sure if this is OT or not, but just wanted to post the size differences for the various 24(5)mm combos I am using right now. Amazing the different kinds of shots I get with these two setups.

Zeiss ZF 25mm 2.8 and Pentax 110 24mm 2.8. Lensbaby tilt transformer on the Zeiss, and the expensive Kipon 110 adapter that really doesn't work out of the box (I had to shave the shim for the lens release with my dremel) on the Pentax.

Hi, Taran. Could you tell me more about those Gariz shutter release buttons? Do they fit well? How do you like them? Thanks!

Hi Douglas, I am very happy with mine because shooting street for me often means actuating the shutter with my pinky or my thumb. The soft release seems to give me a little more sensitivity, but at the same time I haven't had a problem of shooting inadvertent frames with the camera around my neck all day.

This kind of thing is very very subjective though, and I merely know what works for me.

Gariz makes a fine product, many thousands of clicks on the buttons you see here. I like the fit and finish on the NEX, looks classy (at least to me).

in anticipation of a leica b&w camera release i've been shooting jpegs in b&w mode on the NEX where i can actually see in b&w before taking the shot. i'm actually am pretty happy with the in camera b&w with +3 contrast.

all with the 40mm cron:

this last one is a 9 or so image stitch, disappointingly shooting jpeg doesn't seem to have sped up the PS stitching much:

sebboh,

that first one is pretty awesome (and I don't use that word lightly), very nice rendering in the OOC areas. I just wish there was a little more detail left in the piece of wood in the foreground. Once the eye has wandered to the actual point of focus on the wood, the highlights in the sharpest area appear to be almost blown. If you still have the raw file you could try a conversion that preserves the detail in that area, making the whole shot even more awesome.

Regards,

David

thanks! i do indeed still have the raw and the detail is not blown in either the jpeg or the raw (though the jpeg has a pretty heavy curve applied). the downsizing seems to have taken some of the detail out. i will play with the raw later as i'm curious to see how my standard b&w conversion compares to the sony jpeg. will post an update when i get a chance.

Getting out of the NEX system or just didn't find the 55-210 met your needs ?

Most likely getting out all together. I have the sigma 19, kit lens, 50, and 55-210. The 55-210 I think was on par with the Sony 18-200 as well as the Tamron 18-200 but allowed me to use my 49mm filters with it. Just can't afford two different systems at the moment and the output I have been getting from the Fuji just seems more pleasing to me. I really do love the 7 but think I would grab the fuji more often than not over the 7 unless I needed the 55-210 for the extra reach where as the Fuji doesn't have that option available with OSS and AF.

I think I like this shot mostly because it reminds me of the Travelocity gnome.

Jon, I really like your first shot with the silhouettes of the people and boats. Great colors in the second one as well.

Jon, silhouette shot is breathtaking!

On a different note, are there really any gnomes that DON'T remind you of the travelocity gnome ?

Thanks guys. I actually thought the first one was a bit funny. If you closely at the silhouettes, it's basically a picture of people taking pictures while the sun is setting with boats in the background. There are probably around 4 cameras/camera phones among the silhouettes.

millsart, actually you have a good point.

And what's up with the silhouette with what looks like a boat with many rowers? I am too far inland to judge what looks like an invasion of ancient Romans. Love it.
