Here is something some might find interesting.
It's a full test shot from the canon nFD 24/2 at f/8 or so. Note the edges. Yet this lens can produce good edges.
My lesson is: focus at center for landscapes at your peril. Ultimate sharpness in the center may bring softer edges---better to focus at the edge. My current landscaper theory anyway.
too much CA, and not that sharp. it doesn't look any better than my rokkor 24/2.8 (maybe worse).

Terrific pictures Sebboh. I'm in the San Francisco Bay Area too, so I'm pretty familiar with what photographs taken around here tend to look like given the light, the sky etc... and that guy on the bench is really different and creative.
thanks! i was really surprised how much i could change the mood of that by fiddling with the color.

Thanks. It seems the interaction of the various NEX sensors with various lens designs makes it difficult to predict how the edges are going to be. Some lenses do benefit in the corners from pulling back focus a little, but not all of mine do. That CA the sebboh mentioned is what turned around my whole FDn experiment, although I think the CA on the top of the mountain in your pic could be avoided if the exposure was brought down a little.

The Pen-F 60/1.5 came today. I'm stupidly happy with it. Great size. Sharp (enough for me), nice colors. The bokeh can get a little funky, to the point where you don't want to run any global sharpening or raise in contrast. The aperture blades give a nice shape at everything but f/2. It wouldn't be my choice for a landscape lens, but that's not what I was after in the 90mm equivalent. We'll see if the initial infatuation turns into true love, but so far so good.
cool! i've wondered for a while about this lens, it looks like it probably has a similar character to the 42/1.2.
Sebboh, you finally got to me. I ordered a G 45 . I figured I may as well get one now, before the price goes up even more, and it'll be especially cool on either a NEX-7 or maybe a future FF mirrorless.

about time. i doubt you'll be disappointed with it optically.

Good timing......especially with a lot of rumors swirling around about the possibility of a permanent conversion to M-mount becoming available in the future. Then they'll be even scarcer/dearer.
