wfrank, I used the maximum live view to focus on the building for the long distance shot and the toy in the short distance (~7 feet). Focus peaking wasn't very helpful with my G21.

Interestingly I've been adapting a ZF21 to a mirex on a nex7 and the other day I shot the same house with both the 21ZF and the G28 biogon and found the G28 to be strikingly sharper that the 21ZF. I need to do a better test and I think the adaptation needs more work now as well but I was surprised at how different the two were.
Not sure what to say about your 21 but I got a G35-70[ from KEH that was terrible so they can go awry. You may need to get a CLA done.
Mike
Thanks I'll look into the CLA, but I'll see if the ebay seller will take it back. My G45 and G90 are both sharp but they are different designs so I didn't know if the "biogon" was supposed to be a little soft.
I was considering getting the ZF version (and using an adapter on my 5D) so I could adjust the aperture on the NEX without the conrus/metabones adapter. Is your ZF sharp on a Nikon?
Edit: My seller agreed to take back my lens. Don't know if I'll try to get another copy.
Ok bokchoy, you can take a look here, here are two crops from the image found below. There is some sharpening done in ACR but you'll see the difference regardless, just ignore the PP. Handheld with a fiddly adapter, most gets sharp but some dont. But I do it with magnification just like you. (F/5.6 I think)

morning light in oslo.
Great light. Nicely captured. Any chance you can post a little larger?

Jacob D, your third photo is awesome. How did you get the pic?
Thanks for the comment. As far as getting the shot, it's just 3 horizontal shots merged in PS.
in case somebody out there isn't tired of these yet, here's the last of my morning mist stitches, contax g 45, 43 frames:

Your shots of that grove are awesome. I think we need a thread for you to post them all up and have a community vote
This latest one feels like the shadows may have been lifted a little too much to me, but seeing them all together would be a better way to compare.
BTW, the kid escaping thing is all too familiar. Luckily mine are just old enough now that if one comes along I can say something like 'throw some rocks in the water over there and stay out of the street' and they listen pretty well... but one eye is always sort of fixed on them.
I don't post too often here, but I wanted to share a couple shots. I haven't gotten to use my NEX as much as I would like, but my wife and I went to Hilton Head, SC and played around with it a bit. Like some other members here, I am a fan of Minolta lenses on the NEX, although most of these shots were with the kit lenses because my wife prefers the autofocus and she was primarily shooting the NEX 5 while I had my Minolta XD-5. Hope you enjoy!
Jacob, bench shot or not, the first is really relaxing for the eyes, hard to quit looking.
Sebboh, the #3 is a new dimension to that hill, awesome in all respects. But you should really buy a proper chair before your daughter is old enough to notice.
Shelt, lovely moon shot - but I think you have some serious non-raw artifacts going on.
And yes Philippe, those blue R-flowers are very inspirational, but it cant be spring in Paris already?

wfrank - Thanks! I shot it in RAW, and processed in LR3. A couple of things worth noting. At 600mm equivalent, there was serious atmospheric shimmering, and second, the horizontal "lines" in the image were real -- layers of offshore haze and thin clouds. The combination made everything look a bit dirtier than I would have liked.
I've noticed I can't get a sharp infinity shot from the NEX-7 + 400mm Canon combo. There is so much magnification that atmospherics overpower the resolving power of the combo. Kind of interesting. The lens is fine on full frame at 400mm equivalent on my 5Dm2...
Sebboh - the last cypress shot is my favorite, perhaps because of the nice saturated foreground against the misty trees. The entire series has been really enjoyable!
Lots of great shots on the past few pages -- too many to point out!
