wfrank, I used the maximum live view to focus on the building for the long distance shot and the toy in the short distance (~7 feet). Focus peaking wasn\'t very helpful with my G21.

Interestingly I\'ve been adapting a ZF21 to a mirex on a nex7 and the other day I shot the same house with both the 21ZF and the G28 biogon and found the G28 to be strikingly sharper that the 21ZF. I need to do a better test and I think the adaptation needs more work now as well but I was surprised at how different the two were.
Not sure what to say about your 21 but I got a G35-70[ from KEH that was terrible so they can go awry. You may need to get a CLA done.

Thanks I\'ll look into the CLA, but I\'ll see if the ebay seller will take it back even though the auction said no returns. My G45 and G90 are both sharp but they are different designs so I didn\'t know if the \"biogon\" was supposed to be a little soft.
I was considering getting the ZF version (and using an adapter on my 5D) so I could adjust the aperture on the NEX without the conrus/metabones adapter. Is your ZF sharp on a Nikon?
