Thank you rji2goleez, michael49 and boris!

Boris - I actually do have a square crop of number 4 - probably should have posted that one.

Lenses used - 1, 2, 6, 7 and 8 are with the kit lens. 3 is the Rokinon 85mm 1.4, 4 is the Pentax Super Tak 50mm 1.4 and 5 is the Sony 16mm 2.8.

Love that first shot ar_yin. How on earth did you get so close to them with a 35mm lens though Is the shot heavily cropped?

Mitty, They are all nice but 6 and 8 are my favorites. Were they taken with one of the in-camera black and white settings?

I agree about the qualities of the images posted here. It is a real pleasure to look through them.

Some truly great images in this thread - had a blast going through it the last half hour or so.

Have been really enjoying my 5n the last couple months. Here are a few of my favorites so far:

Thanks rji2goleez, really like the sun stars and highlights on #3.

Sebboh, #1 is great. That's a lot of skill to get a manual lens on a NEX to focus that quickly and on point.

Some more from my Contax G 45mm F2 and NEX-7.

I'll be taking the Sony SAM 35mm F1.8 out today on a LA-EA1.

Unbelievably good price, incredible performance per dollar.

Test image with NEX 5N, ZF 25/2.8 @ 2.8 - photo of my favorite couch ornament . I am happy w/ the lens sharpness, but I hoped for more vignette at 2.8 actually. The reviews really let me down there.

twelveish: welcome! The small images look VERY nice but I'd like to see them bigger. I know all the places :-)

themitty: #1 in Bill Hollingers repeat is pure art. Awesome - clearly wall stuff.

Sebboh: the eyes of that daughter is still killing me. Gourgeous.

Thanks Bill!

These were shot as jogs, then converted to b&w in picasa, using the color filter option. Works great, and is very easy and quick.

sebboh - love that 2nd shot. Very cute kid!

The 24 seems to me to be very different from the manual focus lenses I am used to on the 5N. I feel like I am really having to learn how to use it. I've found myself using it in manual focus mode rather often just because I am used to working that way, even though the lens is focus by wire. I need to practice the AF system so that I get better using it. I like the sharpness, overall rendering and bokeh. But I really need to use it a lot more so that i feel comfortable with it.

NEX-7 with Sony 16mm. There is corner smearing and color shift. At night though, not bad.

NEX-7 with SAM 35mm F1.8

Lighting was horrible so had to bump up ISO.

I'm realizing more and more that what I want/need for a day-to-day walk around kit is a 35mm equivalent and a 85mm equivalent. I get close enough to a sharp or fast (fast wide open, sharp stopped down) 85mm with my 50/1.2 nikkor and my 58/1.2 rokkor.

My big problem is the 24mm (35mm equivalent), my nikkor 24/2 is soft/dreamy in the center wide open and not really, really sharp stopped down. RF-24s will be somehow smeary/colorshifty at 24mm as I understand it?

So, are there any fast 24s that might work? 24mm canon fd? The new zeiss 24/1.8 obviously.. konica 24?

Here are a couple from the Canon FD (1.4)
Glow and not the best bokeh WO but sharpens up nicely when stopped down with CA correction. Damn heavy! ,,,, not sure that it will stay in my bag....

Thanks for the feedback! I suspect I might end up with the 24/1.8 from sony/zeiss, I do prefer MF though, so maybe I should wait for cosina? see if they manage to make a 25/0.95 or 25/1.4 for e-mount.

To avoid doing only talking about lenses, nex-7 + 35/1.2:
