Nex 5N -- First is with the Sony Zeiss 24 e-mount. Second (somewhat cropped) is with the Rokinon 14mm. Similar processing for both. ISO 100, on tripod.
Looking at detailing given these small samples I think there's a clear edge for the Samyang. Personally I love that combo - though it's huge bordering to ridiculous.. but pretty cool.
Thanks! I keep thinking of moving toward a zm 18 or CV 15 but this lens keeps surprising! It does show some characteristics of the kit lens with a bit of grain even at low ISOs but it's sharpness appears to be satisfactory..

Bob, these are outstanding! How do the full res images look?

See my comment above. This lens surprises me. It is plenty sharp even if not the sharpest. I give it a little contrast boost in PP ans the full rez looks pretty good. All of these are at ISO100 except for the #2 cityscape which is ISO320.
Image 1 - very little post processing on this one. Cropped for angle adjustment, a little fill light and a little black clipping, some sharpening with masking and that's about it.
Image 2 - This one is a single image HDR using Nik HDR Efex Pro.
Image 3 - This one took a bit more work. Curve adjustment, grad filter to tone down the sky, angle crop and both fill/black clipping adjustment
Image 4 - This image PP relied mostly on a preset I developed called '25-25' referring to equal amounts of fill light and blacks in lightroom. I used this preset and mods from it to make color pop. The main starting point is to apply equal amounts of each and adjust to taste from there. I made similar presets called 50-50, 50-25 and even 75-75.
I use the 25-25 presets less frequently and more often approach it by overdoing the fill light and then adding black. It all is individual image dependent.

Off topic question.... Where have you guys/girls bought your spare batteries from? I wanted to get OEM but they are super pricey. Are there any proven, third party alternatives?
Hi Gary. Not willing to put up with the $ they retail for here either, I had a look at ebay. Found new original Sony batteries, with original packaging and all, for next to nothing shipping from HK. Now I have four spares. Good luck!
