Herb,
you are putting up some good stuff with the Nex 7, nice to hear that the pixels can take a bit of a beating in PP.I gotta figure out how i am going to acquire one these Nex 7s

Thanks Jim,
I am getting some real evil thoughts lately...of selling all my Canon gear
If what I read from Herb and others predicts what I will experience, once Mssrs Sony are good enough to get one of their units into my hands, and I suspect that it does, I can see myself keeping my 5N for my ZM 18, my high-ISO shots, and maybe some of my handheld, and using my 7 when all conditions are perfect. Then, if I have two NEX, my Canon/Zeiss gear goes...
Yes, I know, Herb and Jim are not interested...

Philber, I have exactly the same idea. It is good to realise that the 5n delivers fantastic quality, even compared to a 7.

Cant wait for those ZE Zeisses to hit the market, let me know
NEX helped me go further on the alt road, but the FF thing on the fast normal/wide side (where I like to be) is just miles ahead in every respect I can think of. Except size.
But size is enough reason for me to keep the 5N and continue to enjoy it. But serious investments will go to a larger sensor.
Wilhelm, Bo-Ming, of Conurus fame, is developping a EF-to-NEX adapter or converter, so that we may enjoy our ZE glass on NEX. That would be the last straw for my 5DII, unlesss of course Canon release a 5D III...

both ps and hugin seem to do a pretty good job of automatically aligning everything, but often there is considerable perspective distortion that needs to be corrected.
Do you drop the whole RAW file into PS when you shoot these, or do you process JPGS? I shot a couple of test images and processed the small web sized JPG files in PS, and it seemed to work OK.
75(!) images with CZJ 135! Not as much effect as I hoped for - thought it might look tilty shifty - but it is an icebreaker for learning the technique.
Some friends and I day hiked from Stinson Beach to the East Peak and were treated to a classic Cali Sunset along with a few other people who waited at the top with us for the show... great way to start the year.

i used to just use the merge to panorama function in lightroom to take the raws to photoshop, but i still just have PS4, which can't handle raws from the NEX. so now i export them as tiffs and send them to photoshop. jpegs work fine too, i just haven't noticed much time savings with using smaller files.

beautiful! i was just in muir woods today myself and was amazed how many NEX cameras i saw. i'm used to just seeing p&s and various canons and nikons. i guess they really are selling well.

The zeiss/sony looks real good actually. I wonder if that is a great walkaround for both landscape and casual portraits.
Ulrikft2,
It is a great walkaround lens. But I prefer the Zeiss 25 ZM Biogon for landscape.
Better high contrast handling and almost no CA.
CA can sometimes be difficult to remove in landscape work with a lot of small branches of trees.
A lot of fine detail can get lost.
As always it ultimately depends on your personal preferences.
