This is a 100% crop from the far left edge. So you are up close looking at an image of around
90 x 135 cm would your screen have been large enough (just extrapolating from my 1440x900 screen).
Shot from tripod at ISO 100 f/8, distance around 3,5 meter.
Processed in Lightroom according my normal working practice.
There is no colorshift issue towards the edges with this combination.
To be more positive for the Nex 7 (and the brilliant Voigtländer!); I think this is amazing good quality.

This looks very good.Anyway you could post the original shot with no crop?

would love to see how that went but would rather put 40 bucks toward my own n7
herb when you have a chance would love to see links to fulls for your wides + n7.
the cv 35/1.2 looks great, but you should be seeing colorshift on the skopar 35 and perhaps edge issues as well.
Fulls from your tests with the 15 would be really useful.
Perhaps we will just have to wait for some other M9 substitute
Hello Uhoh7,
At the moment I have very limited time to continue my investigations. I can not promise anything unfortunately.
We all have to realise that the Nex7 has not been designed for rangefinder lenses. Using these lenses is just a hit or miss situation. At the moment there is no manufacturer that makes a camera most of us here would like to see. A full 35 mm format Nex 7 like camera that is optimised for rangefinder lenses and is in the price range of an EOS 5D mk2 or even less. Or to look at it in another way: an M9 like camera with live view at a third of the price.
For the coming year my hopes are with Ricoh with their new a16 M mount module. But this is still not full format.
For now the Nex 7 is the best we have. And for rangefinder lenses the Nex 5n might even be preferable. We can use it to our advantage and we can learn some workarounds for it' s limitations.

I would like to make a small note. Although it is easy to fix to colorshift, there is sometimes also a softening of edges and corners that can not be removed. It can be covered up to some point with extra sharpening in pp.
Yes, Herb, but the 28mm Ultron is a symmetrical design, therefore not the type that the NEX handle well. Question is, how would it handle for example a Leica 28 Summicron?

Philber you are perfectly right. I follow also the blog of Diglloyd. He is using the 28 summicron now. I cannot conlude anything yet, but the sample images shown seem to have some colorshift. He also reported in the last couple of days that from 28 mm and wider there are colorshifts.
From my experience the "symmetrical" design is not the whole story. For instance the ZM Biogon 25 performs good on the Nex 5n and the ZM M Biogon 21 not.
The Leica 18, 21 and 24 (super) Elmars are to my knowledge not symmetrical designs and they also have colorshift issues on the Nex 7
We will see, Herb. I should get my 7 at some point, and will try my ZM 18. The one I really need to work on my 7 is the 24 Elmar, otherwise, I will end up not buying it, because paying that much for a cmera that can't go wider than equiv. 50mm is just not a good move.
Herb i agree with your comments, the left image is a bit sharper, so the software fix is taking a little sharpness/detail with it but if one was not viewing @100% i would say it would be hard to notice and esp if you are printing i would say they would look the same.

How do you like the NEX-7? Very nice shot, although if my memory serves me well, I do prefer the grain you were getting with the D700. This looks somehow too uniform, especially when comparing light and dark areas.
