Wow, great dog shot Phillip! Medium format look from an APS-C (!) worth repeating:
thanks ;-). i was quite close to selling that rokkor as i rarely use it, its too big and heavy.
Now i think i will keep it for some more time because of that picture.
how are the edges/corners on the elmar 18? Can't really tell from your otherwise nice samples. Nice long shot with birght edges would be wonderful--links to full
Zeiss ZM 35mm Biogon on a borrowed NEX-5 - wide open @ 3200. Manually focusing on the LCD isn't nearly as bad as I thought, I'm really curious to see how it would be with a EVF. Hope I can rent a NEX-7 some time in the coming months.

Did you add the OOF grain in post, and if so what did you use? That part of the look struck me straight away.
To me it just looks like noise--not grain ( i realise this was intentional) but interesting experiment. #3 really does have a film look and #4 is best of the bunch to my eye

I'm not the best shooter ever, but as bad influence.......watch out
Look at that sweet thing rip
yep, just got the 28 Cron. This can be a really expensive place to hang out and Charlie is a terrible influence.
I've got a 28/1.4 AFD for my D300 and have always really liked the 28 mm focal length on APS-C. and I wanted something that would be really good at F2. I thought about getting the 28 Ultron, but was skeptical of its wide open performance and thought that if I got the cron it would be the last 28 I would ever need. I had been thinking about the ZM 28, even though it's a stop slower (but with a less guilt inducing price). But, when it turned out that the Biogen design might give my future NEX 7 heartburn, I just went for the Cron.
That seems wise, Jeff. That 28 Summicron is tempting, and I've not been impressed from what Ive seen with the Ultron, either. I've decided to go back to the ZM 35/2, since I can't quite muster up the extra 2k for a slightly wider view, but I'm envious.
So, for people who can't quite afford a 28 Summicron -- what are you happy with in the 20s on Nex?
I've got a CV15, a CV35 and a ZM35C, but nothing in between... On FF, 35mm was my most used focal, and I would really like something equivalent on my Nex 5N.
Any opinions from those who've used one on the Sony/Zeiss 25mm f1.8?
Personally, for the most part, I'd only consider Leica, SLR lenses, or maybe the new Zeiss 24/1.8 for lenses in the 20s, but I've skipped them all together. I'm shooting 15, 35 and 50.

Douglas.......curious.....what 50 (or 50's) are you shooting?

I think it's pretty clear at this point that the corner issues are more severe on the NEX 7 as compared to the 5N. I haven't used the lens, but it may be that the Zeiss 25/2.8 works fine on the 5N. Some others might want to chime in. As far as the new Zeiss 24/1.8, we're just starting to see images and if you go back in this thread about two weeks you will find several.
