So, for people who can't quite afford a 28 Summicron -- what are you happy with in the 20s on Nex?
I've got a CV15, a CV35 and a ZM35C, but nothing in between... On FF, 35mm was my most used focal, and I would really like something equivalent on my Nex 5N.
This has been my only real point of frustration with the NEX. 35mm is my normal, I don't mind working +/- 5mm of there but still no joy. You can read more of my rant on the NEX 5N Wides thread.
It looks like the ZM 21/4.5 and 25/2.8 are both good on the 5N, other than color shift. There have not been an abundance of samples posted to draw solid conclusions from though.

Yeah, NEX is still a bit difficult with 35mm-ish equivalent. I've always generally been a 50mm (equiv.) shooter, and, although I do really like the 42mm-ish range, I'm fine going a little longer. I guess that's why Sony decided to focus on bringing out the Zeiss 24/1.8, since there aren't a ton of great alternative options.

anyway, here's a couple from my rokkor 28/2:

Nice. I received the Vivitar 28/2 not too long ago and was taking some similar Christmas ornament photos It's an interesting lens, funky shape though! As you said, not critically sharp, but fun to use. Not sure if I will keep it. I'm debating ditching the SLR glass all together, it's getting harder and harder to mount those big lenses.

I hear ya. I'm starting to adapt to 50ish equivalent, but I haven't given up the fight yet.
If the performance of the Sony 24/1.8 is all we have to complain about, that isn't too bad!... but, to me the performance, overall size, and price tag amount to a less than appealing lens.

Any opinions from those who've used one on the Sony/Zeiss 25mm f1.8?
Having seen quite a few samples and studied up a bit, I would get a 1.9 or f/2 28 CV ultron. There are skeptics but they don't own the lens.
If you don't want to do any low light, the zeiss 28s look fantastic
Also the 3 skopars, 21, 25, and 28 are pretty good.
well---one more the last elmarit before the asph 28 is not so expensive and is also a fantastic lens, which I might prefer over the zeiss.

Well of course, Charlie, but you don't own the lens, either. I'm simply judging my opinion on all of the samples that I've seen, the design of the lens, and the performance of most CV rangefinder lenses on NEX, outside of a few.
Either way, I do hope someone on this forum buys the 28 Ultron, so we can see how it goes.
I know people have been asking to see some more Zeiss 24mm f1.8 samples, so here are some from a walk in the woods today. Not great conditions -- cloudy, late in the day, in the dark woods -- but still better than nothing.
The big surprise is how close focusing the lens is. Practically speaking, it feels almost like a macro.
All these pics are raws with the NEX 5N, lightly processed in LR.

I'm waiting to see more from the CV 28/2 (or 1.9) also. I just pulled the trigger on the 35/1.7 which I'm hoping might replace both my 35/2.5 and 40/1.4... we'll see!

Great light, great colors. Looks incredibly sharp, oof looks nice too!
um, birding with the NEX and rokkor 55/1.7, both wide open: http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7160/6580222725_813686c793_o.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7148/6580222599_fe7f88b921_o.jpg
incidently, the humming bird was the ultimate example of subjects intimidated by large cameras. it wouldn't come near me when i had my a55 and rokkor 58/1.2, but when i got out the nex and baby rokkor it made like 6 passes. each time it bolted as soon as it heard the mechanical clank of that ridiculous original NEX shutter though.
Playing with the 5N + Sony 35mm F1.8 SAM with the LA-EA1 adapter. Half tempted to get the LA-EA2 if it comes up for a decent price.
Sharp lens but doesn't seem quite as out of the camera saturated as the 24-70 zeiss. At least on initial impressions. Interesting bokeh, decently sharp starting at F3.5.
Overall, quite a bargain lens for having an internal AF motor. AF takes about 3-5 seconds on the 5N with the LA-EA1.
